Job Overview

Securities Services Sanctions Operations (SSSO) is a cross-functional global utility of 1LOD investigators of potential sanctions matches and other associated activities in the context of automatically and/or manually screened securities transactions, securities static data, and/or associated client static data.

SSSO ensures that Citi Custody remains compliant with the global, and country-level sanctions regulations by executing controls implemented by the Firm.

SSSO consists of three standardized hubs (EMEA, NAM, APAC) spreading across Warsaw, Pune, and Kuala Lumpur, each one covering its respective region, and working in unison to support one another.

Scope of responsibilities:

• Investigation of potential sanctions matches generated against securities settlement instructions and static data screened by the system, issuing a decision whether they are permissible or not;
• Proactive volume management in the queue and utilizing the available tools to improve the effectiveness of screening by reducing the volumes at source, and improving the STP rate;
• Strict adherence to operations process controls, their sound understanding, evaluation of their effectiveness, and their compliance with the Global Sanctions Policy;
• Internal stakeholders communication management to both source and provide information – 50+ Custody branches globally, client service teams, account and relationship managers, senior management;
• Close cooperation with Sanctions Compliance (2LOD);
• Engagement in local, regional, and global initiatives driven within SSSO or by associated stakeholders.

Desired skills & requirements:

• University degree (or, in progress), minor professional experience in banking/financial industry, though not a must (this is an entry level position);
• Investigative mindset, inherent curiosity (asking “why”), ability to spot patterns, research skills, ingenuity and out of the box thinking;
• Attention to detail, understanding of sanctions risk and its implications, diligence, discipline, and risk-averse approach;
• Resilience to stress and pressure, ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing, environment, ability to work against multiple, overlapping, and short-fuse deadlines, multitasking, effective management of own time and workload;
• Strong command of English (C1);
• Excel literacy – basic functions and pivot tables;
• Openness to work in a diverse and highly multicultural environment;
• Ability to work in two different day shifts (8.30am – 4.30pm and 10.30am – 6.30pm) – on a rotational basis.
