PMG is risk management group covering Citi’s Banking and International division. The group establishes and monitor Wholesale Credit Limits, Reserve forecasting and Stress Testing. The Methodology Team in PMG oversee Wholesale Credit Methodologies, facilitating 1st and 2nd line review and challenge during the lifecycle of model development, ongoing monitoring aligned with credit expertise and regulatory expectations.

This role applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and workflows for Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) standards within the Citi Wholesale Credit. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within the CCAR frameworks.

The successful individual will need in-depth understanding of how various stakeholders collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Requires exceptional analytical and documentation skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple stakeholders. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.

What you’ll do (encompasses the 4 critical area of wholesale model risk) -

Model Oversight & Strategy:

  • Lead model oversight activities and prepare Senior Governance Forum reviews, including prioritization of model changes, development, and assessment of model limitations and overlays.
  • Deploy systematically annual and multi-year model enhancement plans to accommodate feedback from stakeholders across all line of businesses, including regulatory observations.
  • Oversee and prioritize the book of work for model developers, ensuring sufficient consistency across wholesale credit models.
  • Support all activities related to the development of methodologies (model and non-model) and coordinate requirements for developers and technology partners.
  • Contribute to the development and management of model and non-model assumptions, sensitivities, and testing of various wholesale credit stress applications.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of models and overlays.

Governance, Controls & Reporting:

  • Ensure advanced methodologies, reporting processes, governance, and controls framework are well-defined, transparent, and comprehensively documented.
  • Lead, prepare and present model performance dashboard summaries including and not limited to, ongoing performance assessment, sensitivity analyses, backtesting, overlays.
  • Ensure full compliance of Credit Risk models with all relevant Citi policies (Model Risk Management Policy, Data Management Policy) and regulatory mandates.
  • Provide strong financial analysis support and reporting of metrics for various programs under Stress Testing and Reserves under CECL and IFRS9 requirements.

Analysis & Review:

  • Perform analytics and root cause analyses to respond to regulatory and business questions and provide portfolio insights, leveraging in-depth product knowledge.
  • Assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques.
  • Lead deep dive business analysis to provide portfolio insights, define requirements, and manage various technical model related documentation.
  • Facilitate the review of Senior Governance Forums, coordinating agenda, materials, minutes, and follow-up items.

Stakeholder Management & Communication:

  • Partner with Developers and Model Risk Management to proactively address model limitations and related actions/overlays.
  • Liaise with developers, technology, and business to interpret requirements and understand model outputs, ensuring alignment with product-specific nuances and methodologies.
  • Communicate complex problems and policy interpretations through concise, clear, and impactful messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with other functions including risk analytics, technology, and reporting to ensure seamless integration and execution of model oversight activities.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, fostering their development and ensuring high-quality contributions.

What we’ll need from you:

  • 7+ years of experience in the financial industry, with significant exposure in developing analytical methodologies and modelling frameworks for of credit risk measurement, regulatory capital and/or stress testing.
  • 3+ years of prior experience in a modelling team or model risk management function working on PD, LGD, EAD or Credit Losses methodologies, including knowledge of coding in R, Python, or SAS, as well as writing and/or reviewing technical documentation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of quantitative methodologies and regulatory requirements used in credit risk modelling, particularly for stress testing and reserves calculations.
  • Demonstrated deep product knowledge within wholesale credit, including an understanding of financial instruments and market dynamics.
  • Ability to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a proven ability to synthesize complex concepts, translate into "userfriendly" language, and present effectively and persuasively in text or slide format.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and communicate root causes and trends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (metrics and data analysis), PowerPoint (presentations), and Word (documentation).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks, highly motivated with attention to detail, team-oriented, organized, pro-active, and capable of executing effectively across businesses, functions, and geographies.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate and analyze large amounts of information.
  • Project management skillsets and experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders to achieve milestones and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience guiding and developing junior team members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional partners in risk analytics, technology, and reporting.
  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred. CFA/FRM is a plus.
