Portfolio Management Group (PMG) is a risk management group covering Citi’s Banking and International segment.  The group establishes and monitors Wholesale Credit Limits, credit reserves, and stress testing. The Wholesale Credit Allowance Team within PMG is responsible for credit losses under US GAAP (CECL) requirements as reported in Citi's consolidated financial statements as well as legal vehicle financial disclosures. The team develops a recommendation for quarterly cost of credit, with a detailed analysis on the drivers for changes in both expected and actual credit losses. Quarterly credit loss reserves and stress testing results directly impact Citi’s earnings and capital plan.

What you’ll do:

The Portfolio Credit Risk Manager will contribute to the execution of quarterly credit loss requirements under the Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) methodology. This includes portfolio level analysis and communication of results in senior governance meetings to conclude on credit loss reserve adequacy. The Portfolio Credit Risk Manager will work closely with various key stakeholders, including Risk, Finance, Businesses, regulators, and auditors. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Perform in-depth analysis of financial and modeling data, including trends, variance, and macro-economic variable impact

  • Prepare materials for various senior management meetings, as well as meetings with regulators and internal/external auditors

  • Partner with various stakeholders to ensure accurate, detailed, and timely reporting of credit loss reserve results                                                                      

  • Provide analytical support for Business/Finance reviews and ad-hoc requests

  • Assist with implementation of key strategic projects and improvements to existing processes       

  • Maintain detailed documentation on analyses, policies, procedures, and controls

  • Assess impact to credit risk when business decisions are made, by applying sound ethical judgment that considers Citi’s reputation, clients, assets, and compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies.

  • Escalate any reporting or control issues timely and hold others accountable to also maintain these standards.

What we’ll need from you:

  • 5+ years of work experience in Risk Management or Finance within a major financial institution

  • Proven track record of analysing complex financial data and communicating conclusions to senior management in a high-profile environment

  • Good working knowledge of wholesale banking products, credit risk management, and CECL requirements

  • Familiarity with Risk, Collateral, and Finance reporting data infrastructures and platforms across multiple products, functions, and/or businesses preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assimilate large amounts of information to arrive at well-reasoned conclusions

  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office – particularly Excel (metrics and data analysis), PowerPoint (presentation decks), and Word (writing and editing procedural and technical documentation); expertise with Tableau preferred

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts in a concise manner

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to leverage relationships and work collaboratively across the organization

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, exhibiting a high degree of flexibility

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks, escalate concerns, and raise questions

  • Bachelor’s/University degree with a major in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics or Computer Science.
