Job Overview

Job Purpose:

Managing CCB Division at Bank Handlowy S.A. in Warsaw, ensuring the achieving of the set revenue, cost and sales goals, the adequate quality of the portfolio and lending process, the highest level of customer satisfaction and compliance with the Bank's standards and procedures.

CCB Poland contributes approximately 30% of institutional clients’ revenue of the Bank.

Job Background/Context:

The role is based at Bank Handlowy S.A. in Warsaw, managing approximately 90 employees - teams of senior professionals and seasoned bankers.

The Bank’s stable financial position is confirmed by the highest rating among the banks in Poland with Fitch Viability rating at bbb+.

The role is also designated as a Material Risk Taker (MRT)/ Identified Staff of Citi Handlowy.

Job Description

Full management responsibility of multiple teams, including management of people, budget, and planning. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of Polish commercial business environment, industry specifications, and direct competitors' products/services are also necessary to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Excellent communication skills required to influence a wide range of audiences – customer, partners, and employees. Develops medium- to long-term plans and executes functional country strategies, requiring coordination and integration across units. Has authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital, or business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver on financial commitments, Revenues & Expenses, EBIT in Poland.

  • Develop and monitor a client-driven franchise growth plan in Poland and communicate a clear Commercial Banking vision that is responsive to global/regional strategies and emerging market trends.

  • Ensure that the overall business strategy is well defined and articulated to all key stakeholder such as CEO, Coverage Head, Regional CCB Head, product teams, operations and technology as well as second line and third line of defense partners.

  • Communicate a clear vision of the Commercial Bank business strategy across Poland and engage employees in support of the strategy and growth.

  • Grow market share across all key client Industry Verticals with high quality acquisition, activation and up-tiering.

  • Build a strong network internally and externally and effectively compete with traditional global and local banks within our Target Market through superior client propositions and innovative solutions.

  • Senior client coverage for existing and prospect companies.

  • Drive cross-selling products like cash management, trade, FX, capital markets and wealth management.

  • Define sales strategy for Commercial Bank in Poland, including target market, product and service offering, interaction models, training programs, and resources and infrastructure required.

  • Execute on key growth initiatives for CCB and deliver under BHW 2.0 (post-Consumer exit) strategy. This includes but is not limited to: focus on assets growth and continued focus on clients with global ambitions. Manage and drive client acquisition, deepening of existing client relationships, and other strategic initiatives designed to be able to grow in a sustainable manner.

  • Drive an effective talent strategy, ensuring appropriately skilled and experienced individuals are in place for critical roles, developing the next generation of leadership in solutions.

  • Translate Citi’s strategy into an effective and efficient Commercial Bank business plan while proactively overcoming obstacles and driving a healthy balance between near-term and long-term priorities.

  • Drive innovation, differentiation and speed to market and promote cross selling of products across Poland.

  • Partner with EMEA Investment banking team to drive and execute episodic transactions and with key stakeholders.

  • Partner with Risk organization closely to ensure that the right credit approach is in place across Poland to allow sound credit growth and to maintain desired credit portfolio quality.

  • Leverage exceptional credit skills, ability to set effective goals and demonstrated ability to consistently enforce sales and performance management disciplines.

  • Promote an inclusive and ethical culture, engaging employees in our strategy and the highest standards of conduct that underpin it.

  • CCB Head will be expected to operate in a complex governance structure, interacting with Citi Handlowy Supervisory Board partly composed of independent directors. The role will involve presentation of the business strategy, plans and results to Citi Handlowy minority shareholders as part of investors’ relations.

  • Represent the bank externally, at industry associations, forums, congresses, conferences and committees; Maintain an active thought leadership role in the industry and with clients through external engagements.

  • Responsible for ensuring optimum efficiency and service levels for Commercial Bank in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures and all applicable regulations, laws, and regulatory standards.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance to all applicable related policies, processes, and procedures across Poland.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Strong execution skills

  • Strong communication skills including presentation to internal and external stakeholders, regulators, media, clients and other

  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance issues and regulatory requirements (global and local)

  • Experience in managing dynamic and diverse teams

  • Familiar with Citi’s risk culture, risk and finance frameworks and their application at a legal entity and country level

  • Track record of identifying, managing and delivering change with all stakeholders to drive the business forward

  • Proven track record of developing and executing business growth strategies Client-Facing and Relationship Management Skills

  • Proven leadership skills and intellectual capability to create momentum and an agenda across multiple products with a diverse population and competing priorities

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with pragmatic approach to ensure limited resources are directed appropriately

  • Ability to align global strategy and local execution, while balancing resources among front, middle and back offices

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience, including 10+ years' leadership, cluster management and international markets experience

  • Senior Credit Officer preferred

  • Experience in gaining buy in from Senior Management to execute country strategy

  • Proven track record of delivering results

  • Experience in managing dynamic and diverse teams

  • Relationship/stakeholder management with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience in working under complex corporate governance frameworks

Background/Education

  • University degree, Master’s degree preferred

  • Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Finance/ Banking/Economics would be an asset
