Job Overview
The Senior Business Associate is a member of the North America Broker-Dealer Legal Entity Governance Team, which reports into the Markets Chief Operating Office. The role partners with others to develop and operationalize aspects of Citi’s Risk Governance Framework and other Policy requirements within context of the following US and Canadian legal entities: Citigroup Global Markets Holdings Inc., Citigroup Financial Products Inc., Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Citigroup Global Markets Canada Inc. and Citigroup Energy Inc., supporting Markets, Banking and Wealth business activities.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate proven ability to work together with multiple stakeholders across Markets, Wealth, and Banking and International, as well as ICRM, Risk, Finance, Legal, HR, Operations, Technology, and Internal Audit. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and effectively in a cross-functional environment without close supervision and with colleagues who may not be in the same geographic location.
The role requires strong analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills that rely on influence and building effective partnerships to execute our business plans and controls in a systematic, measurable, and effective way.
The role will be based in Toronto co-located with Canada Markets senior management and work in close coordination with colleagues in the US, UK, Europe and Asia.
Responsibilities:
- Implement programs designed to operationalize legal entity requirements associated with Citi’s Risk Management Framework (e.g., Risk Identification, Risk Appetite Risk Appetite Assessment, New Activity, etc.) and other related processes.
- Liaise with 1LOD / Business Execution partners to track and report on progress against identified Issues and Corrective Action Plans impacting the legal entities under management.
- Perform analysis associated with issues impacting the legal entities under management (e.g., revenue/expense attribution, headcount, etc.), as well as design and produce appropriate reporting and presentation materials.
- Develop and manage initiatives, projects and Corrective Action Plans associated with key legal entity governance initiatives.
- Advance control framework including executing Manager’s Control Assessment testing, operational loss processes, and corrective actions.
- Prepare materials, record minutes, and follow-up as needed on items for business committees and/ or regular business meetings.
- Seek out sources, track, consolidate and analyze ad-hoc and regular business requests.
- Drive implementation of business-driven projects across functions, working closely with relevant senior leadership.
- Provide input into and recommend technology change, process improvements and control framework enhancements.
- Communicate business knowledge, product knowledge, and requirements to business and internal support functions.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 6-10 years of experience in a financial services or consulting.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of financial services industry; Global Markets experience preferred.
