Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Finance team for a dynamic and driven finance professional to join as Assistant Vice-President, Local Financial and Regulatory Reporting.  As an integral member of our 19 person team, you will be joining a group of collegial professionals committed to providing exceptional service. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced industry professional as well as a first time mover from a big four public accounting environment (manager and up need only apply).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage and prepare local (Canadian) financial and regulatory reporting for our banking entities, i.e., for Citibank Canada and Citibank, N.A. (Canadian Branch), a Schedule II and Schedule III bank respectively.
  • The banking businesses include:  Treasury and Trade Solutions, Domestic Custody, Corporate & Private Banking and Markets.
  • Participate in the preparation of year-end audited financial statements for Citibank Canada (including its subsidiaries), Citibank, N.A. (Canadian Branch) and Citi Canada Pension Plan.
  • Manage the implementation of, and adherence to, IFRS standards, including researching and providing guidance to businesses on accounting issues.
  • Provide guidance to businesses on the impact of new products and/or transactions on the bank’s capital adequacy.
  • Participate in the preparation of Board of Directors materials, including business performance analysis, asset volumes, earnings and capital forecasts.
  • Assist in the management of regulatory examinations and internal audits.
  • Manage and/or prepare select local regulatory reports.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects as required, e.g., researching Basel 3 requirements, automating processes, and/or reengineering reporting activities.
  • Proactively responding to changes in the regulatory environment.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned from time-to-time.

Qualifications:

A professional accountant designation or equivalent experience.

  • University degree in Business, Finance or Accounting is preferred.
  • Eight years of progressive work experience (with a particular focus on regulatory reporting and process controls), in the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of banking products, and their regulatory requirements, is required.
  • Proven analytic and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with ability to influence and gain support for objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Excel.

• Execute controls as required.

Qualifications:
•Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•5-8 years of experience in financial accounting and/or regulatory reporting.
• Proven analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to influence and gain support for objectives.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills, especially Excel.
