Data Risk and Control Manager
The Data Risk & Controls Manager role in the Enterprise Data Office (EDO) will play a crucial role in supporting definition and implementation of Data Risk Control Framework, associated processes for Data controls, and monitoring and reporting of data control adoption partnering with various businesses and global functions in an effort to strengthen Citi’s Risk Management practices.
This role will support multiple leaders within the Data Risk Controls organization and assist them with the mitigation of challenges identified as part of the Data-related Consent Order by the regulators, as well as support the leaders in the organization to achieve Citi’s commitment to implement industry leading Risk Management practices. The role will require collaboration across the organization to drive the change and support EDO in the re-engineering of the data control framework for the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Lead business analysis through collection, analysis, review, documentation and communication of business needs and requirements, to understand requirements and aligning these to Data Risk and Controls standards to drive appropriate solutions
Be the focal point for Data Risk for MCA transformation related activities and initiatives; drive the agenda impacting Data Risk related to MCA or MCA transformation
Guide and influence governance and the facilitation of the execution of the Manager Control Assessment (MCA, i.e.. Risk & Control Self-Assessment) as required by the MCA Standard including the assessment and appropriate approval of risk associated with Data Risk
Responsible for the quality, completeness, and accuracy of the implementation of the Control Framework, including Risk Control Policy, Control Standard, Issue Management Policy, Lesson Learned Policy and Control Inventory
Support data risk and control program for the organization including defining the approach, processes, quality, tools, and reporting that provide global data risk management consistency and excellence
Partner with key stakeholders to review, analyze and challenge data controls assessment and adoption actioned by the first line of defense business units and functions
Take ownership to ensure that Data risk and control responsibilities and accountabilities are embedded within FLUs, including providing training and leading by example.
Lead analytical analysis of dataset to derive conclusion to support business strategy
Lead activities to ensure roles and responsibilities related to data are understood and implemented across businesses
Apply knowledge of the business, products or services to identify and implement control points and processes throughout the business
Guide and mentor junior team members on development of new processes and execution of agreed processes
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience, Banking or Finance industry preferred in a Data Governance/ Data Management/ Process Engineering or related area
Must have 7+ years of prior managerial experience managing team of 10+ individuals and interactions and negotiations with senior stakeholders
Strong experience and understanding of Risk and Control environment; experience in designing and assessing data controls and conducting gap assessment
Communicates effectively, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences; able to drive consensus, and influence relationships at all levels
Collaborates effectively by building partnerships and working well with others to meet shared objectives
Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills across a variety of stakeholders at different levels
Optimizes work processes by balancing effective / efficient processes with a focus on continuous improvement. Demonstrates ability to balance between seeing the “big picture” while paying close attention to detail
Organizational savvy: understands systems, management processes, knows where to go for information and how to interpret them
Working knowledge of Data Operating Model practices, Data Governance and Data Compliance within large, financial services firms
Preferred prior experience working in a Big 4 consulting firm
Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to see the big picture with high attention to critical details
Education:
Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$141,440.00 - $212,160.00
