Job Overview
Based in Singapore, the Singapore Business Execution Lead role reports directly to the Asia South Cluster Business Execution Head and on a matrix basis to the Singapore Citi Country Officer and Banking Head (CCOBH). The Singapore Business Execution team is responsible for driving strategic and business-critical initiatives and programs, uplifting and streamlining governance, and cultivating a robust risk and control environment among other critical activities. The Singapore Business Execution Lead is also responsible for accomplishing results through tasks that may include managing external audits, business continuity activities or addressing regulatory issues, in addition to managing activities such as the tracking of business financials, employee headcount and other administrative needs and ad hoc projects as necessary.
Key responsibilities include the following:
General
- Engage in cost management activities, such as validating spending and cost saving initiatives, monitoring savings initiatives and expenses, as well as monitoring consistency between financial information, productivity information and HR reports
- Identify opportunities to optimize costs, propose initiatives and lead creation of direct expense plans in partnership with internal functions and teams
- Mange and drive the process to set up a continuous cycle of organization/operating model reviews to shape the local organization model
- Provide leadership and promote business ties with internal and external senior leaders/clients across key businesses, regions and support functions
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Risk and Controls / Governance
- Run governance committees and forums for the Singapore franchise; oversee preparation of materials and ensure internal governance requirements are met
- Drive governance discussions on behalf of CCOBH; lead discussions on resolving issues related to ownership, etc. within the franchise. Know when to escalate to the cluster for arbitration
- Demonstrate awareness and ownership of issue management across the Singapore franchise, regardless of issue source or remediation; ensure Singapore franchise adheres to requirements and thresholds for escalation, timeliness of actions taken, etc.
- Ensure CCOBH is aware of all key issues affecting the franchise. Ensure appropriate remediation steps are taken. Ensure cluster management is aware of the same with clear direction on next steps
- Instill discipline across Singapore management team and franchise on importance of risk and control on behalf of CCOBH; break down silos across the businesses and functions, especially for issues with multiple stakeholders
- Oversee franchise-wide internal audits
- Participate in New Activity process as legal entity reviewer delegate
Talent and Development
- Actively coach and support development of junior resources
- Guide team members and colleagues through ambiguous and ever-shifting operating environment
Communication and Engagement
- Represent CCOBH at events; be top of mind for colleagues when they think of engaging the CCOBH office
- Actively communicate team status and workload to CCOBH and Cluster BE Lead; maintain open communication channels, enabling calibration of workload across the cluster
- Take on / lead ad hoc assignments at the cluster level, representing / advocating for other countries in the cluster
Financial and Expense Management
- Support CCOBH in business development needs, connecting with country business heads
- Help ensure compliance with expense management guidelines
- Actively lead strategic discussions on franchise spending and budgeting
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in financial services
- Proven experience in people management and indirect influence
- Knowledge of the financial services industry and technology; strong knowledge of Citi processes, polices and frameworks
- Proven ability to work in a team of diverse skill sets and cultures
- Proven ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
Education
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master's degree preferred
