This is a role for a seasoned strategic professional who applies in-depth market knowledge and is a recognized technical authority across the full precious metals value chain. The successful candidate will possess strong commercial awareness and analytical skills to filter and validate complex information from multiple sources. Established customer relationships are essential, as are excellent communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence, and negotiate with external clients and internal colleagues. This role will have a significant impact on the business area through the delivery of complex solutions and will involve coaching and training new recruits.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of Precious Metals Institutional and Corporate clients, mainly in China and Hong Kong, and be responsible for sales origination, cross-selling opportunities, and client retention.
  • Originate new precious metals solutions for clients, working closely with Structuring to create bespoke structures that combine aspects of investing, financing, hedging, and physical metal trading.
  • Take responsibility for growing the Precious Metals P&L of the client portfolio and oversee the entire sales process from origination to revenue realization.
  • Serve as the primary regional point of contact for clients, accountable for deepening wallet penetration, revenue expansion, and driving customer satisfaction through high-quality service delivery.
  • Identify client goals and financial needs that can be addressed through Structured Commodities products.
  • Manage and drive the deal team, working closely with Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, Trading, Structuring, Logistics, and Operations & Technology to achieve deal objectives.
  • Ensure consistent, professional delivery of all client management disciplines, including account planning, call reporting, lead generation, pipeline management, and relationship reviews.
  • Develop and maintain deep market knowledge through participation in industry conferences and by staying up-to-date on market trends affecting clients.
  • Champion multi-product and cross-regional solutions through the internal deal review process.
  • Ensure clear and consistent global team communication using tools such as CRM and call reports.
  • Respond to and manage customer escalations for operational or service-related issues, including complex or cross-geography challenges.
  • Build and promote a culture of responsible finance, good governance, expense discipline, and ethics.
  • Appropriately assess the risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and its assets.
  • Adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services, driving compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in a Precious Metals Sales or Structuring role at a Financial Institution or Commodities Trading House.
  • A customer-service-oriented mindset with excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, market practices, and bank operations.
  • Demonstrated analytical and advanced problem-solving skills.
  • A resourceful and independently motivated professional with a sense of pragmatism and urgency in strategy execution.
  • Innate leadership ability to galvanize resources across different business units and stakeholders.
  • Experience in product management, sales, or business management is beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree required.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
