Job Overview

The Business Unit Manager is a senior management-level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a professional team or department. The team drives the overall administrative activities of the business. These tasks may include managing external audits, business continuity activities or addressing regulatory issues. The Business Unit Manager coordinates and manages activities such as the tracking of business financials, employee headcount and other administrative needs and ad hoc projects as necessary.

This particular role will primarily focus on Consent Order reporting for Services Technology. There may be secondary support for Core Accounts, LMS and Cluster Technology Teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Drive administrative, operational, reporting and quality improvements through partnership with internal teams
  • Financial planning across Services Technology for any Consent Order IRs
  • Financial and Resource forecasting on a monthly basis - looking ahead to the current year and also a multi year view across several Consent Order workstreams
  • Variance analysis on month end for both Financials (Cash, CAP, P&L) and Resources (Direct Staff and Vendor)
  • Governance of PTS/Investments@Citi data quality - including the correct use of tags at IR, Program, Project and Initiative level
  • Governance of hiring tagging for Consent Order resources - using Resources@Citi to ensure forecasts are accurate
  • Reporting and presenting the month end financials and rest of year outlook to various Stakeholders - including Data, Business Execution Leads, Services Tech, Services Product, and Finance
  • Build a network with the BELs across each Services Tech LoB in order to keep informed of any major movements in forecast, or to help explain significant variances
  • Highlighting any risks or opportunities to multiple stakeholders - and presenting at a fortnightly Consent Order PMM
  • Governance and Reporting of App Remediation deliverables - including presenting monthly Risk forums - this involves working with the managers of over 50 applications and working on remediation plans to get each back to Tier 3 rating
  • Providing a monthly summary to Services Tech SMTs
  • Manage financial control by applying a comprehensive understanding of the department Profit & Loss (P&L), including appropriate accruals, client allocations, the impact of capitalization, recovery and fixed price contracts in order to improve operational efficiency and productivity
  • Responsible for all cross product technology, regulatory and administrative duties in conjunction with the team, including financial, staffing, quality, risk and regulatory matters
  • Understand the flow of financials across Contractors, Software and Direct Staff (Labor) costs - and how accurate forecasts are (e.g. is the SOW linked, are there placeholder dollars, are the outlooks realistic from each Tech team). The candidate will be expected to challenge these
  • Ensure headcount is accurate, real estate is inventoried and planned, and onboarding and termination of resources are managed
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services
  • PTS, Resources@Citi and Investments@Citi experience
  • Experience with hiring forecasting
  • Experience working in global and complex settings with multiple stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and technology, including Profit & Loss (P&L), accruals, client allocations, capitalization, recovery and fixed price contracts
  • Proven ability to work in a team of diverse skill sets and cultures
  • Proven ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
