Job Description: VP, Senior Java Developer (Spring, Microservices, MongoDB, Kafka) – 10+ Years of Experience

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Developer with expertise in Spring Framework, Microservices architecture, MongoDB, and Apache Kafka. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable, high-performance, and distributed enterprise applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet complex business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance Java-based applications using the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security).
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices to support business needs.
• Implement asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka.

Event-Driven Architecture with Kafka:

• Design and implement Kafka producers, consumers, and streams for real-time data processing.
• Manage Kafka topics, partitions, and consumer groups for efficient message processing.
• Ensure high availability and fault tolerance in Kafka-based systems.
• Monitor and optimize Kafka performance, including troubleshooting and debugging issues.

Database Management:

• Design and optimize MongoDB schemas and queries for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Implement data modeling, indexing, and aggregation pipelines in MongoDB.
• Ensure database performance, scalability, and reliability.

System Architecture:

• Design and implement microservices architecture for distributed systems.
• Collaborate with architects to define system architecture and design patterns.
• Ensure scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability of microservices.

Code Quality and Best Practices:

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following industry best practices.
• Perform code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Implement unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality.

DevOps and Deployment:

• Work with DevOps teams to deploy and monitor applications in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Red Hat OpenShift).
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
• Use containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of microservices and event-driven systems.

Troubleshooting and Support:

• Debug and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Monitor application and Kafka performance, implementing improvements as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in Java development with a strong focus on backend systems.
• Expertise in Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security).
• Hands-on experience with Microservices architecture and building RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency in Apache Kafka, including creating producers, consumers, and stream processing.
• Strong knowledge of Kafka architecture, including topics, partitions, replication, and consumer groups.
• Proficiency in working with MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, and aggregation pipelines.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and design patterns.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with message brokers and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency in unit testing and test-driven development (TDD).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with API Gateway and service discovery tools (e.g., Apigee).
• Knowledge of other NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, DynamoDB).
• Familiarity with performance tuning and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Knowledge of security best practices in microservices, including OAuth2, JWT, and API security.
• Experience with data streaming frameworks like Apache Flink or Spark Streaming.

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
