Job Overview
The Engineer Intmd Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and development of software and infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud).
- Implement and contribute to microservices architecture principles, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, and resilience patterns.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and testable code following best practices and coding standards.
- Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring high availability and performance of applications.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process, tools, and technologies within the team.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment processes.
- Assist in defining and implementing API contracts and integration strategies between services.
- Proactively identify areas for system optimization and performance improvements.
- Potentially mentor junior developers and share knowledge within the team.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 4+ years of professional experience in backend software development with Java.
- Microservices Exposure: Demonstrated experience working with microservices architectures, including understanding concepts like service discovery, API gateways, fault tolerance, and distributed tracing.
- Leadership/Ownership: Proven ability to take ownership of features or modules, from design to deployment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Agile: Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development methodology.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Technical Skills
- Core Languages: Expert-level proficiency in Java (Java 8+).
- Frameworks: Strong expertise in the Spring Framework, particularly Spring Boot for building RESTful APIs and microservices. Experience with Spring Cloud components (e.g., Eureka, Zuul/Gateway, Hystrix/Resilience4j, Config Server) is highly desirable.
- Microservices Patterns: Solid understanding and practical application of microservices design patterns.
- Databases: Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Proficiency in SQL and ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate, JPA).
- API Development: Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, including proper versioning, authentication, and error handling.
- Messaging: Familiarity with messaging queues (e.g., Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ) for inter-service communication.
- Testing: Experience with unit testing (JUnit, Mockito) and integration testing frameworks.
- Version Control: Strong experience with Git and Git workflow (e.g., branching, merging, pull requests).
- Build Tools: Proficiency with build automation tools like Maven or Gradle.
- Cloud Platforms: Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a significant plus.
- CI/CD: Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Monitoring & Logging: Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and logging frameworks (e.g., ELK stack, Splunk).
