Job Overview

The Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst is an intermediate-level position responsible for participating in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to application systems analysis and programming activities, delivering robust and scalable software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and robust enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
  • Develop and manage real-time data processing and messaging systems using Kafka.
  • Create responsive and user-friendly front-end interfaces with Angular.
  • Write efficient and complex SQL queries and manage relational databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.
  • Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures to identify and define necessary system enhancements, including using script tools and analyzing/interpreting code.
  • Collaborate with users, clients, and other technology groups to diagnose issues, recommend programming solutions, and support customer exposure systems.
  • Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, and conduct comprehensive testing and debugging to ensure software quality.
  • Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Serve as an advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
  • Identify problems, analyze information, and make evaluative judgments to recommend and implement effective solutions.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating control issues with transparency.

Technical Skills

  • Programming Languages: Proficient in Java.
  • Frameworks: Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Angular.
  • Messaging Systems: Experience with Apache Kafka for building real-time data pipelines.
  • Database: Strong proficiency in SQL and Database Management, including data modeling and performance tuning.
  • Development Practices: Solid understanding of SDLC, agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in the Financial Services industry, with a proven track record in an Applications Development role.
  • Hands-on experience building applications with the specified technical stack (Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Kafka, Angular, SQL).
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
  • Ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision and exercise independence of judgment and autonomy.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
