Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Junior Credit Analyst with strong expertise in accounting principles, IFRS and financial statement analysis. This role is critical in evaluating the financial health of companies, understanding industry dynamics, and providing high-quality credit assessments that support sound decision-making.
The Junior Credit Analyst is a developing professional role. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the franchise. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.
Responsibilities:
- Spread financial statements in accordance with bank guidelines.
- Analyze audited financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and notes to the financials.
- Interpret financial trends and assess a company’s financial performance, liquidity, leverage, and overall creditworthiness.
- Conduct in-depth industry analysis to identify key opportunities, challenges, and threats that may impact the companies under review.
- Connect industry insights with company-specific risks and strengths to form a holistic credit perspective.
- Identify information gaps or unclear items in financial statements and proactively prepare relevant questions for client discussions.
- Engage with clients to clarify financial or business details not available in public sources or audited reports.
- Thoroughly prepare credit applications; check their completeness; request clarifications if necessary; assess them in the context of the valid / relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Follow and monitor the portfolio of assigned/covered clients through their lifetime and escalate proactively and timely all potential credit issues acting as First Line of Defense.
- Effectively manage and closely monitor classified customers covered; propose feasible account strategies avoiding / minimizing potential losses.
- Participate on CLM tasks/requirements such as greenlights, quarterly financial reviews, and ad-hoc reporting, portfolio stress testing, audit etc.
- Communicate efficiently across the bank (Business, Risk, CRMS, Legal, Operations, and others).
- Maintain strict confidentiality on all accounts, bank products and policies.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years previous experience in a financial institution with a focus on financial spreading and credit analysis.
- The ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) accounting, IFRS, financial regulations, financial products, and credit analysis.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and German. French language is also desirable.
- Ability and motivation to learn.
- Self-organized person with ability to pay attention to details and work under pressure.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
