Job Overview

The Correspondent Client Performance and Execution (CPE) Officer is a strategic professional responsible for analyzing and conveying channel-wide, individual seller, and industry trends to Citi's Correspondent Approved Seller base. This role contributes to directional strategy by leveraging deep analytical insights and applying them to improve correspondent client performance and execution. The CPE acts as a recognized technical authority within their area, requiring a keen knowledge of credit policy, the originations process, and compliance, coupled with basic commercial awareness. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are essential to guide, influence, and convince others, particularly internal colleagues and C-level executives at Correspondent Sellers. This position has a significant impact through complex deliverables, providing advice and counsel related to the technology, operations, and risk management within the correspondent lending channel. The work directly influences the Correspondent Channel as a whole, affecting the overall performance, quality, and effectiveness of the Seller production and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and conveys channel-wide trends, individual seller performance trends, and industry-wide trends to Citi's Correspondent Approved Seller base.
  • Provides consultation to Correspondent Sellers on process enhancements and best practices to create efficiency in loan file delivery.
  • Drives initiatives to reduce through-the-door defect rates and overall risk for both Citi and the Correspondent Seller.
  • Partners extensively with Correspondent Field Sales, Fulfillment, Credit Risk, Repurchase, Fraud, Legal, and Counterparty Risk teams to improve the overall manufacturing quality of loan production and enhance Citi's ability to detect defects.
  • Supports efficient and clean loan delivery by identifying and addressing systemic issues.
  • Responsible for remediating Correspondent Sellers who exceed allowable defect rate thresholds, developing and monitoring action plans for improvement.
  • Acts as a seller advocate for the loan delivery experience, actively working to address any redundancy, inconsistency, or errors in Citi's review processes with internal partners.
  • Champions quick adaptation to new policy interpretations or changes, ensuring Correspondent Sellers are well-informed and compliant.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in correspondent lending products, credit policy, origination processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintains recent knowledge of new products, industry trends, regulatory requirements, tax law changes, and their impact on correspondent lending.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to provide comprehensive advice and solutions to Correspondent Sellers.
  • Leads cross-functional teams against channel initiatives aimed at improving performance, quality, and risk management.
  • Provides a high level of communication and customer service to Correspondent Sellers and internal stakeholders.
  • Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of significant experience in mortgage credit and originations required, with a focus on correspondent lending.
  • Proven expertise in analyzing performance trends and providing consultative guidance to clients.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with repurchase remediation and managing seller performance.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Client-centric skills, including excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of engaging at C-Level at Correspondent Sellers.
  • Broad understanding of financial services, product solutions, and all aspects of lending strategies and compliance concepts.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to achieve channel-wide objectives.

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$117,440.00 - $176,160.00
