Job Overview

A Business Unit Manager is a key member of the HR Business Execution team for US Personal Banking HR and Wealth HR, that support 2 of Citi’s 5 core businesses.  

The U.S. Personal Banking organization plays a key role in delivering on Citi’s vision to be a leading personal bank in our home market, offering products and services across Branded Cards, Retail Services and Retail Banking. We are driving a digital-first, client-obsessed approach, serving more than 70 million clients, with national scale in credit cards & lending and a physical branch network in six core U.S. markets (nearly 650 branches)The USPB organization is comprised of approx. 25K employees, predominately in the US.

The Wealth organization brings together the full power of Citito serve the entire continuum of clients, from affluent to ultra-high net worth to family offices.Through our three business lines — Citigold, Citi Private Bank and Wealth at Work — we work with clients to build their wealth through expert investments insights and solutions and our deposits and lending platforms.The Wealth organization is comprised of approx. 12K employees, globally.

The HR Business Execution team drives the overall organizational operations of the HR Advisory team, leads strategic planning and execution of key HR initiatives and processes and provides support to the business unit Senior Human Resources Officer. The HR Business Execution team is a key enabler to the Business Unit HR team’s success and ensuring HR prioritized outcomes are achieved.

The Business Unit Manager will be responsible for driving several key employee life cycle processes, business specific people initiatives, and enterprise wide strategic projectsacross a globally dispersed organization. This role will serve as a primary delegate to the Head of Business Execution for USPB HR and Wealth HR and will help identify opportunities to streamline and  further integrate the USPB HR and Wealth HR Business Execution operating and engagement model.Additionally, the Business Unit Manager will serve as a central point of contact, advisor and enabler to Sr. HR Advisors for US Retail Bank and Citi Private Bankso that they are able to deliver on the respective people agenda priorities for USPB and Wealth. 

The Business Unit Manager will report to the Head of Business Execution USPB HR and Wealth HR and will be a part of a high performing, dynamic, agile team.

Responsibilities:

Communications Strategy and Execution

  • Provide support to Sr. HR Officer on ad hoc projects and serve as a delegate for the Head of  HR Business Execution, or representative on various initiatives, councils, or workstreams

  • Lead the development, execution, and promotion of internal business messaging and communications strategy, ensuring adherence to established communication standards and procedures. This includes advising, writing, editing, and identifying/developing business content for deployment.

  • Organize and participate in strategic meetings (team, leadership) to assess communication needs, educate leadership on strategy, and recommend impactful approaches.

  • Advance organizational and people strategy goals through integrated communication strategies, talent initiatives, and employee engagement efforts.

  • Leverage technology and tools, including AI, to enable effective communications and drive adoption of new platforms.

  • Serve as a liaison between HRA teams and enterprise-wide teams/discipline partners to ensure cohesive communication.

  • Serve as a point of contact, relationship manager to Sr. HR Advisor clients

HR Project Management and Process Governance

  • Lead HR project management for key HR lifecycle processes and initiatives (e.g., Year-End promotions/releveling, performance management, annual employee surveys, workforce management, regulatory requests, human capital risk) by designing, executing, and governing methodologies, procedures, and routines. This ensures KPIs and milestones are effectively tracked, communicated, and aligned.

Data Analysis, Metrics, and Financial Management

  • Business Management: Manage Workforce Planning and Expenses for HR Team, Operating routines, communications, as well as leading team culture efforts  

  • Develop, manage, and report monthly metrics to monitor and measure the impact of initiatives, KPIs, and milestones, directly informing financial deliverables.

  • Complete all financial deliverables, including monthly forecasts, annual investment processes, client reporting, and ad hoc requests.

  • Drive productivity and cost-savings initiatives in partnership with senior management (e.g., execution of workforce planning), with direct impact on financial outcomes.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 8-10+ years progressive work experience.

  • Proven ability to work in a team of diverse skill sets and cultures

  • Proven ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of financial services industry

  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Communications or marketing experience preferred

  • Adept at building and managing relationships with senior executives and internal stakeholders, navigating competing interests and providing opposing viewpoints productively.

  • Collaborative work style; effectively interacts with partners across organizational boundaries/hierarchies/geographies. Leadership presence; commands respect and will earn trust of senior leaders.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Master’s degree preferred
