Job Overview

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) is a member of Citi’s Sustainability & ESG team and plays a vital role in its sustainable finance tracking and reporting efforts. The Sustainability & ESG Team is responsible for the development and execution of Citi’s global sustainability strategy and related key initiatives across the bank. The team manages environment, climate change, human rights and other stakeholder and business issues in partnership with Citi's businesses, risk functions and operational teams.

The AVP will contribute to the execution of Citi’s $1 Trillion Sustainable Finance commitment and will help support the integration of sustainability and ESG considerations across our core businesses through financial product and transaction review and tracking ESG-focused trends and research. The AVP reports to the SVP, Sustainable Finance Metrics and Impact Lead, who reports to the Head of Sustainability Strategy within Enterprise Services and Public Affairs.

Job Responsibilities:

Sustainable finance

  • Perform in-depth sustainable finance eligibility reviews at the transaction and client entity levels in accordance with Citi’s framework, including KPIs and sector-related due diligence

  • Track, validate, reconcile and analyze data in support of internal and external reporting on Citi’s $1 Trillion Sustainable Finance Goal

  • Support environmental and social impact measurement using recognized methodologies for sustainable finance transactions

  • Research key sustainability topics, issues, or technologies to inform Citi’s internal criteria and frameworks

  • Manage tracking of sustainable (environmental and social) finance product innovation, regulatory taxonomies and industry guidelines 

  • Identify business examples and support the development of case studies and narratives to highlight the firm’s sustainable finance activity

  • Contribute to engagement with Citi businesses on sustainability or ESG considerations

General

  • Provide support to team priorities and key initiatives, including Citi’s sustainability strategy, stakeholder engagement, employee engagement, data reporting and disclosure, as needed

  • Develop presentation materials and talking points on sustainability related topics for engagement with internal and external stakeholders

  • Undertake research projects and benchmarking analysis as needed on sustainability related topics and themes, including facilitating outreach to Citi banking teams to help steward due diligence processes

  • Provide summaries, evaluations and analysis on relevant policy or market-related sustainability developments

  • Support efforts to drive forward Citi’s sustainability and climate strategy, including through quantitative analysis 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in sustainable finance, sustainability, ESG, investing, banking or markets-related role

  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and social sustainability issues and strategies

  • Working knowledge of banking and capital markets products and terminology; familiarity with sustainable finance and ESG topics pertaining to the banking and financial services industry preferred

  • Strong analytical, research and investigative skills, ability to evaluate and assess complex topics and creatively problem solve

  • Strong program management skills, including the ability to create and execute work plans

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with a strong attention to detail

  • Exceptional work ethic, with the ability to multi-task and work in a high-performance professional environment under tight deadlines and shifting priorities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint)

  • A team player, with a good sense of humor

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field required, Master’s degree in sustainability, business, or environmental science preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$98,960.00 - $148,440.00
