Job Overview
The Account Manager for Depositary Receipt Services is responsible for managing a portfolio of existing Depositary Receipt (DR) client relationships. This role demands a profound understanding of the Depositary Receipt business, including DR mechanics, regulations, global capital markets, and best practices in client servicing. The Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for corporate issuers, investors, and other stakeholders, offering strategic guidance, operational support, and identifying growth opportunities within the existing client base.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary liaison and trusted advisor for a portfolio of Depositary Receipt issuer clients (corporations, market participants).
- Cultivate robust, long-term relationships with key client contacts across all levels, including C-suite, investor relations, finance, legal, and treasury departments.
- Proactively engage clients to understand evolving needs, strategic objectives, and DR program challenges.
- Conduct regular client reviews, performance presentations, and strategic discussions.
- Identify and mitigate potential client satisfaction issues, ensuring timely resolution of inquiries and requests.
2. DR Program Management & Expertise
- Provide continuous expert guidance on all aspects of Depositary Receipt programs (e.g., ADRs, GDRs), including program structure, lifecycle management, regulatory compliance (e.g., SEC filing requirements), and market dynamics.
- Collaborate with internal teams (operations, legal, compliance, finance, sales, marketing) to ensure seamless service delivery and execution of client directives.
- Monitor and analyze DR trading activity, investor base evolution, and market trends relevant to client programs.
- Assist clients with program enhancements, corporate actions (e.g., dividends, rights offerings, stock splits), and disclosure requirements.
3. Business Development & Growth
- Identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities for other bank products and services within the assigned client portfolio.
- Collaborate with the sales team on new business pitches and proposals, providing market insights, client testimonials, and success stories.
- Contribute to the development of tailored solutions to meet specific client needs.
4. Operational Excellence & Risk Management
- Oversee the operational efficiency and accuracy of DR services provided to clients.
- Ensure strict adherence to internal policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., AML, KYC, sanctions screening).
- Proactively identify and escalate operational risks or compliance concerns.
- Manage client reporting and data analytics related to DR program performance.
5. Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership
- Stay abreast of global capital markets developments, regulatory changes impacting DRs, and the competitive landscape.
- Participate in industry conferences, webinars, and thought leadership initiatives as a firm representative.
- Provide feedback to product development teams regarding market needs and client demands.
Required Knowledge & Experience:
1. Depositary Receipts (DRs) and Global Equities
- DR Structures: In-depth understanding of various DR types (ADRs, GDRs), their structures (Level I, II, III, Rule 144A), and issuance/cancellation processes.
- Capital Markets: Strong knowledge of global equity markets, trading mechanisms, clearing, and settlement processes, and their impact on DR programs.
- Financial Products: Understanding of related financial products and services, including equity offerings, M&A activities, and corporate actions (dividends, stock splits, rights issues) as they pertain to DRs.
2. Regulatory and Compliance Landscape
- SEC Regulations: Comprehensive understanding of SEC rules (e.g., Securities Act of 1933, Exchange Act of 1934) and specific DR-related regulations (e.g., Form F-6, Form 20-F filings).
- International Regulations: Familiarity with relevant regulations in key global markets (e.g., European, Asian) impacting cross-border listings and trading.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), sanctions, and other financial compliance requirements pertinent to DR services.
3. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Financial Statements: Ability to interpret corporate financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements).
- Corporate Governance: Understanding of corporate governance principles and their relevance to publicly traded companies and DR issuers.
- Investor Relations (IR) Concepts: Knowledge of IR best practices, investor communication strategies, and IR's role in maintaining investor confidence.
4. Sales and Account Management
- Strategic Account Planning: Expertise in developing and executing strategic account plans for issuer clients and institutional investors.
- Client Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain deep, long-term relationships with C-level executives (CFOs, IR heads), legal counsel, and treasury teams of issuing corporations, as well as portfolio managers and analysts at institutional investor firms.
- Consultative Approach: Skill in identifying client needs, providing strategic advice, and positioning DR services as solutions to capital-raising and liquidity challenges.
- Negotiation & Structuring: Proficiency in structuring and negotiating complex service agreements for DR programs.
- Revenue Generation: Understanding of fee structures, revenue drivers, and profitability within the DR business.
5. Market Intelligence & Analytics
- Investor Analytics: Ability to analyze DR trading data, investor ownership patterns, and market trends to provide strategic insights to issuer clients.
- Market Trends: Staying abreast of global economic trends, geopolitical events, and market sentiment affecting cross-border investments and DR programs.
- Competitor Analysis: Knowledge of competitive offerings and positioning in the DR market.

Education & Years of Experience:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master's degree preferred
- 10 years of relevant experience preferred.
