Job Overview
The Senior Business Unit Group Manager is a senior-level position responsible for the business execution activities for Funding and Liquidity Management, which is mandated with optimizing funding and liquidity management capabilities for Markets, partnering with Citi Treasury and the businesses. The role will support the Head of Funding and Liquidity in driving strategy and execution for business priorities, including improving data, forecasting and management of liquidity needs, deploying cost-effective funding strategies and improving transfer pricing methodologies. Key responsibilities include managing projects, internal and regulatory issues and audits, tracking business financials, preparing management materials, and leading ad hoc projects as necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development and implementation of methodologies, procedures, and governance frameworks for Markets Funding, ensuring alignment with global funding and liquidity strategies.
- Drive participation in and provide strategic input to governance forums such as the Markets Funding EXCO, Markets BRCC, Markets Data Council, FVO Debt Oversight Group, GMI Governance, and Volcker Metrics meetings.
- Ensure efficient and daily BAU operations across Liquidity Management, Structured Notes, Secured Financing, Unsecured Derivatives Financing Desk, and Funding and Unallocated Interest.
- Partner with the business and Technology to drive the strategic vision and roadmap for critical systems and Data ownership within Markets Funding, such as AQUA, GIAS, and EXG, ensuring data accuracy and integration for advanced liquidity models.
- Evaluate and approve investment and capital expenditure requests for Markets Funding, including strategic initiatives such as the Aqua book of work, Markets Funding and Liquidity Management Data and Risk Transformation, and Transfer Pricing Redesign.
- Manage and drive continuous organizational and operating model reviews to optimize the Markets Funding structure across global locations (LDN, NY, BUD).
- Lead the assessment and mitigation of risks inherent to Markets Funding activities, including liquidity risk, structured product risk, and derivatives financing risk.
- Ensure robust compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, specifically addressing regulatory submissions (e.g., Regulatory Liquidity Submissions, DCRM remediation, FRB ILST exam) and managing issues related to the Volcker Desk Hierarchy and EUCs
- Identify opportunities to optimize costs, propose initiatives and lead creation of direct expense plans in partnership with internal functions and teams
- Ensure all expenses are appropriately managed, and identify opportunities to optimize costs and drive direct expense plans.
- Provide leadership and promote strong working relationships with internal and external senior leaders across businesses, regions and support functions.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant experience in financial services, with a significant portion in global markets funding, liquidity management, structured products, or derivatives financing.
- Proven management experience with a demonstrated ability to lead large, complex projects and processes within a dynamic financial environment.
- Deep knowledge of financial services industry regulations, particularly those impacting liquidity, capital, and market risk
- Strong understanding of financial instruments, including structured notes, secured financing, and derivatives.
- Demonstrated strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience in managing complex financial data and reporting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with senior leadership, regulators, and cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred.
