This senior-level position acts as a strategic advisor and senior point of contact to our Platinum and Priority Institutional clients within the Markets ecosystem. The overall objective of this role is to monetize opportunities, optimize Citi resources, and ensure an exceptional client experience. The successful candidate will originate, cultivate, and strengthen these critical relationships, identify new business opportunities, and drive revenue growth, while upholding Citi's commitment to sound governance and control.
While not directly responsible for product coverage, the Markets RM monitors and promotes the progress of partnerships across all product areas, ensuring clients receive the highest level of service in collaboration with relevant product teams. This role requires a deep understanding of financial markets, strong business acumen, and exceptional relationship management skills to navigate complex client needs and internal processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Relationship & Business Development:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for senior client executives. Leverage client relationships to identify new business opportunities and collaborate with Product sales teams to drive commercial outcomes as a team.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to maximize revenue generation and increase wallet share within existing and prospective client accounts.
- Build and strengthen connectivity between senior leadership at Citi and key client decision-makers to institutionalize the Citi relationship across products and the broader enterprise.
- Anticipate broader client needs and take ownership, in partnership with business leaders, to position Citi as a top-tier provider of innovative client solutions.
- Actively work to close performance gaps for existing businesses and educate clients on changing regulatory requirements and market structure changes.
- Disseminate key strategic initiatives and significant developments at client organizations that may impact Citi’s approach to servicing the client or sourcing opportunities.
- Client Experience & Escalation Management:
- Act as the senior escalation point for all critical issues that cannot be resolved through regular channels, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining client engagement.
- Lead regular, detailed client reviews and related account planning sessions, incorporating input from product teams and keeping coverage teams updated on client developments.
- Facilitate client onboarding, operations, and other internal processes to ensure seamless business execution.
- Governance, Risk & Compliance:
- Lead strong governance and controls, working in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, and Finance to ensure an appropriate governance and control infrastructure.
- Appropriately assess the risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
- Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhere to Policy, apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.
- Resource Optimization & Thought Leadership:
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to address challenges and opportunities related to Capital and GSIB optimization.
- Understand drivers for client profitability and returns, engaging across products to contribute to review processes around client balance sheet, risk, and capital provisions.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant experience with a proven track record in client engagement at senior levels.
- Proven track record of senior client engagement with Platinum and Priority Institutional clients and strong intellectual grasp of the industry
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a team oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to translate vision into executable plans with a pragmatic approach to ensure resources are directed appropriately.
- Credibility and gravitas to operate effectively within a complex matrix of stakeholders across geographies and products, using influence to drive results and prioritize resource allocation strategically
- Consistently demonstrated clear, concise, and impactful written and verbal communication skills, with excellent negotiation abilities.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience required.
- Master's degree preferred.
