Investment Banking Associate - Debt Capital Markets
The Debt Capital Markets Associate is an intermediate level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the credit markets—including syndicated loan market and debt capital markets—as well as in providing strategic advisory services in the context of acquisition financings, liability management, and infrastructure financing, working in coordination with the Latin America DCM team and other product partners in the corporate and investment banking teams. The overall objective of this role is to actively participate and assist in the execution of complex financial transactions, formulating debt raising and liability management strategies for our Latin American clients.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the execution of investment banking transactions originated by desk: direct involvement in tasks pertaining to pitching, documentation, marketing, pricing, and settlement of trades;
Actively contribute to deal team on a day-to-day basis, via working with partnering investment banks, outside legal counsel, auditors, and ultimately clients;
Monitor general market conditions, follow key economic and regional and geopolitical developments and primary market activity, in order to provide clients with market updates and thoughtful financing proposals and strategies matching their capital markets needs
Work closely with Citi’s syndicate desk on the development of marketing strategies through analysis of investor feedback and market conditions;
Analyze clients’ operations and credit metrics to assess financing options and develop investor marketing materials;
Leverage past investment banking or related experience to enhance DCM execution and capital raising capabilities;
Manage and mentor analysts by providing detailed guidance and feedback, managing information flow, and providing credit and exposure information to analyst, as appropriate;
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
4-7 years of relevant experience
Degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration
Experience in evaluating corporate transactions and structures
Experience creating financial analyses
Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Experience assisting with client development
Ability to work with teams and track business development (collect research, analyze industry trends)
Proven experience working on high-paced environments, including management of simultaneous assignments
Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
Series 7, 79 and 63 preferred
Education:
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
MBA or master’s degree in business or related disciplines preferred
