Job Overview

The Head of Domestic and Accounts Payables is a senior management level position responsible for the end to end strategy, product development, and P&L for Citi’s global payables ecosystem-encompassing domestic payment rails, commercial cards, and integrated accounts payable solutions and services. The primary objective is to drive innovation, optimize payment processes, expand market share in domestic payments, and ensure competitive positioning for accounts payable solutions within the financial industry. This role will build an end-to-end value proposition for the entire spectrum of account payables for our corporate, public sector, CCB and FI clients, regardless of payment instrument, creating supplier value and enablement and monetizing the end-to-end flow.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of professionals focused on domestic payments and accounts payable, including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions, while negotiating and making decisions on issues/activities with critical impact on company revenues, capital, and business operations.
  • Define and execute strategic product roadmaps for domestic payments and accounts payable solutions, overseeing product development, program launches, and marketing efforts to maximize benefit. This includes surveying and analyzing competitive industry landscapes to identify trends, threats, and opportunities.
  • Build and end to end value proposition for the entire account payables for our Corporate, CCB, Public Sector and FI clients, working with Trade to create supplier value and enablement, and monetize the end-to-end flow. This will include partnering with PDS and LMS on the ERP strategy.
  • Manage day-to-day product marketing for core domestic payment and accounts payable products, focusing on product delivery, client experience, and communication strategies. Prioritize, negotiate, and remove obstacles to achieve business results.
  • Drive client-valued propositions, positioning, segmentation, pricing, targeting, channel strategies, and competitive differentiation to achieve preferred status as a partner for domestic payment and accounts payable solutions.
  • Develop plans and execute functional strategies for domestic payments and accounts payable across regions or business units, coordinating and integrating efforts across units, and providing input into strategic decisions.
  • Manage the network across Citi branches globally for Domestic and Account Payables, including agent banks and FMIs, managing risk and resiliency.
  • Develop product innovation roadmaps for domestic payment and accounts payable, addressing fundamental challenges, and managing external partnerships and vendor relationships to secure advanced solutions.
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of program life cycle management for domestic payments and accounts payable, including market demands, technology trends, and the competitive landscape. Drive innovation by collaborating with external partners/alliances to develop and manage ongoing products.
  • Manage acquisition targets, product financial performance, revenue performance, and expense management goals for domestic payments and accounts payable, overseeing identification and execution of opportunities and business plans.
  • Define and launch new domestic payment products, accounts payable features, and capabilities, including product/feature definition and go-to-market strategy, and participate in technology development and market launch activities.
  • Develop and communicate business plans for domestic payments and accounts payable, coordinating and implementing team procedures, client problem resolutions, and client management.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in financial services, with a strong background in Institutional accounts payables, and an understanding of corporate treasury management and ERP systems and capabilities
  • 10+ years of global  managerial experience, with proven ability to lead and manage teams across multi-functional, global, complex, and matrixed organizations. Experience in the network will be favourably considered given the foot print of this business.
  • Experience managing cross-functional areas with direct/indirect reports (e.g., risk, finance, decision management, marketing, operations).
  • Working knowledge of different systems, theories, and practices relevant to domestic payments and accounts payable functions.
  • Practical experience across multiple business cycles in the financial industry.
  • Knowledge of industry and competitor products/services within the domestic payments and accounts payable landscape.
  • Knowledge of strategic direction and practical/conceptual grounding in the function and/or area of expertise for domestic payments and accounts payable.
  • Working knowledge of the banking and investment products industry.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated internal and external negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop strategy, gather resources, and inspire a diverse set of individuals.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
