Job Overview
Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) Trade and Working Capital Solutions (TWCS) within the Services organization is a dynamic, high growth global business that offers working capital solutions to clients across Banking, Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions and Citi Commercial Bank client segments in over 100 countries. This role sits in Citi Core Trade which encompasses a wide array of Trade solutions and tools aim to deliver seamless, scalable trade flows while helpingmitigate risk and optimize efficiency. Some of the core trade product offerings include Import Letters of Credit, Export Letters of Credit and Documentary Collections. This role is central to transforming how we distribute our flagship unfunded trade products (Letters of Credit, Guarantees) and how our clients experience them and reports directly the Global Head of Manufacturing Lending.
We are seeking a strategic visionary to lead our Core Trade Services product line as a Senior Vice President (SVP). You will be tasked with architecting a next-generation distribution strategy that leverages data analytics and AI to identify and penetrate new investor channels (Banks, NBFIs, Insurance). This involves building the digital infrastructure to facilitate this distribution and creating innovative structures for new investor types.
Concurrently, you will harness the same data-driven and AI-powered approach to fundamentally enhance the client experience. This means commercializing digital channels, developing intelligent self-help tools, and using predictive analytics to preempt and eliminate client queries. The ultimate goal is a seamless, automated client journey that simultaneously fuels sophisticated product distribution to a broader market.
This role is uniquely positioned at the intersection of commercial growth, technological innovation, and client-centric design, requiring a leader who can synthesize these elements into a single, executable global strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Risk Distribution & Innovation
Develop and implement a global data-led strategy to distribute unfunded trade assets (e.g., LCs, Guarantees) to a broader investor base, including banks, Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs), insurance companies, and multilateral agencies.
Ensure the distribution strategy is in strict alignment with the bank's capital allocation, RWA (Risk-Weighted Assets) accounting, and evolving regulatory landscapes to optimize for capital efficiency and compliance.
Utilize advanced analytics to identify market gaps, model risk-sharing structures, and create compelling investment propositions for new investor types.
Lead the initiative to build or enhance the necessary digital infrastructure and technology systems (e.g., blockchain-enabled platforms, APIs, data pipelines) to enable efficient, transparent, and scalable distribution.
Apply AI and machine learning models to optimize pricing, risk allocation, and investor matching.
2. AI-Enhanced Client Experience & Digital Commercialization
Own the end-to-end client journey, using data analytics to map pain points and identify opportunities for automation and improvement.
Develop and execute the commercialization strategy for digital channels, leveraging data to personalize client interactions and drive adoption of electronic platforms (e.g., web, mobile, API).
Spearhead the development of AI-powered self-help tools, chatbots, and intelligent process automation to empower clients and reduce manual intervention.
Analyze root causes of client queries using diagnostic analytics and lead projects to systematically reduce them through predictive alerts and process re-engineering.
3. Product Performance & Analytics Leadership
Establish a robust framework of KPIs and dashboards to measure the effectiveness of both distribution initiatives and client experience enhancements.
Utilize deep data analytics to gain insights into channel performance, client behavior, product profitability, and competitive positioning.
Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making within the global product team.
4. Global Leadership & Execution
Provide strategic direction and thought leadership to regional product and sales teams, ensuring alignment with the global product vision.
Collaborate closely with Technology, Operations, Risk, Legal, and Compliance to deliver integrated, compliant, and client-centric solutions.
Manage the product P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and delivering on financial targets for the Core Trade Services product line.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.
8+ years of progressive experience in product management, structured finance, or distribution roles within transaction banking, trade finance, or a related field.
Proven, hands-on expertise in trade finance products, specifically Letters of Credit and Guarantees, is non-negotiable.
Demonstrable experience in developing and executing complex distribution or syndication strategies for financial instruments.
Deep understanding of capital management, RWA accounting, and the regulatory frameworks governing trade finance distribution and risk participation. Ability to drive developments in Credit & Capital Treatment.
A strong track record of leveraging data analytics to drive business decisions and measure success.
Essential experience in identifying, prototyping, and implementing AI/ML solutions to solve business problems in a financial services context.
Proven success in launching digital client solutions, improving UX/UI, and reducing operational friction.
Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
Outstanding communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, clients, and investors.
