Job Overview

Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM) Analyst is an entry-level position for a recent college graduate to support research, analysis and data tracking for Citi's ESRM team, who manages Citi's exposure to the environmental and social risks related to clients globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide research support to the ESRM Unit on client transaction reviews across a variety of sectors (oil & gas, mining, power, infrastructure, forestry, and palm oil) globally
  • Using third party ESG data platforms, conduct corporate-level and portfolio-level reviews of high-risk sectors (i.e. extractives, agribusiness) or themes (i.e. climate risk) to identify clients that present elevated environmental, social or reputational risk
  • Monitor news related to clients in sensitive sectors for relevant developments on environmental and social controversies
  • Responsible for database management of transaction reviews, corporate reviews; prepare quarterly and year-end reports on volume of transaction reviews for internal and external reporting purposes
  • Manage team workflow to ensure incoming transaction approval requests are assigned and responded to in a timely manner
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting concerns with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, international development, economics or sustainable business
  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledgeable about major global environmental and sustainability trends
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, detail oriented, fluent in Powerpoint and Excel
  • Flexible, a team player, able to work in a high performance environment with short deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Additional language skills a plus

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$86,330.00 - $120,470.00
