Compliance & Data Governance Group Manager (SVP) - Hybrid
The Compliance & Data Governance Group Manager (Data Governance Foundation Group Manager - C14) manages a team of professionals and is accountable for the management of Enterprise Data Governance Strategy, and/or Data Risk and Control Framework, Data Risk Taxonomy, and will play a critical role in managing the KYC modernization project, including all associated project management activities, defining and optimizing data flows, establishing data quality rules, and coordinating efforts across technology, ICRM, and KYC Operations teams.
This job requires excellent communication skills needed to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business. Responsible for handling staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project.
Responsibilities:
- Manages multiple teams or a functional area, while maintaining appropriate staffing requirements to meet operational needs.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of critical programs/projects, including the KYC modernization project, and associated dependencies.
- Oversee data governance and/or Data Risk and Controls, with a particular focus on KYC data requirements, and work closely with business/functions to ensure practices are embedded throughout the enterprise.
- Ownership of policy adoption plans, compliance metrics, communication and training.
- Ownership of delivery and ultimate closure of corrective action plans completely, accurately and on-time.
- Coordination with other regional Enterprise Data Office (EDO) teams to ensure consistent treatment of findings, corrective actions plans and response to 2nd/3rd line of defense reviews, especially in the context of KYC regulations.
- Leads reengineering efforts in business's methodology, strategy, and organizational goals.
- Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business.
- Produces recommendations for enterprise-wide guiding principles, policies, processes and practices.
- Determines requirements for and prioritize development of new enterprise-wide principles, policies, processes and practices as needed.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Banking, Financial Services, plus 6+ years of Managerial experience.
- Deep subject matter expertise around Data Governance and/or Data risk, control framework and policy development, with proven experience in KYC data management and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates consistent track record of having worked as a Program or Project Manager, or working on large, strategic cross-functional projects, including successful delivery of KYC or similar compliance-related modernization initiatives.
- Strong business analysis competency with historic success in shaping opportunities via conceptual thinking and abstract problem-solving capabilities, especially in defining complex data flows and data quality rules for regulatory processes like KYC.
- Communicates effectively, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences; able to drive consensus, and influence relationships at all levels, particularly when coordinating across diverse techology teams, ICRM, and KYC Operations teams on strategic projects.
- Collaborates effectively by building partnerships and working well with others to meet shared objectives.
- Ability to gain confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity and authenticity.
- Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills across a variety of stakeholders at different levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, appreciation of the enterprise data vision.
- Experience creating and being a champion for a positive risk culture that supports sustainable business growth through transparent engagement, a partnership approach, and a no-tolerance approach for behavior that exposes the organization to an inappropriate amount of risk.
- Experience creating and executing against frameworks that improve the quality and value of data to meet regulatory commitments and enhance risk management. Experience leveraging glossary, lineage, and data quality tools to drive governance, with specific application to KYC data lifecycle management.
- Optimizes work processes by balancing effective / efficient processes with a focus on continuous improvement. Demonstrates ability to balance between seeing the big picture while paying close attention to detail.
- Organizational savvy: understands systems, management processes, knows where to go for information and how to interpret them.
- Working knowledge of Data Operating Model practices, Data Governance and Data Compliance within large, financial services firms, with a strong understanding of KYC processes and related data challenges.
Education:
- Bachelor's/University degree or equvelant experience
- Master's degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$176,720.00 - $265,080.00
