About the Role
Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) is a global line of business at Citigroup that provides commercial banking services to mid-sized companies. CCB’s Sustainability team supports the implementation of this strategy helping clients transition to more sustainable business models and supporting sustainability focused disruptors to grow and scale their impact. As a core member of the Sustainability team, you will be responsible for supporting the Global Head of Sustainability, Citi Commercial Bank, in the implementation and execution of CCB’s Sustainability strategy, focusing on the origination and execution of Sustainability solutions that meet CCB client needs, and advancing CCB’s sustainability objectives and market positioning.
Key Responsibilities
Driving Sustainability-focused Client Engagement, Origination and Execution
- Client Advisory: Provide advice to a wide range of CCB clients at different stages of their sustainability journey, ranging from “disruptors” with innovative business models to more traditional corporates that need to reposition their business models to be future proofed.
- Sustainable Finance Origination & Execution: Originate and support the execution across Citi’s sustainability focused product suite with focus on Sustainability-linked and Sustainable Use of Proceeds Financing by advising clients on relevant considerations for their industries.
- Sustainability Disruptor Prospecting and Origination: Lead the identification and prioritization of sustainability disruptor prospects with industry coverage teams. Support the engagement with sustainability disruptor prospects and clients to build relationship and demonstrate Citi’s sustainability value proposition.
- Content and Insights Delivery: Create, tailor and curate sustainability focused content targeted for mid-sized clients supporting clients to stay fully up to date with sustainability developments in a rapidly changing environment. Help develop solution packages and thought leadership together with product and industry partners in this evolving space.
Embedding Sustainability Mindset with in CCB
- Create internal awareness and momentum and help embed sustainability knowledge into the wider CCB organization by actively collaborating with internal focus groups and industry teams.
- Support capacity-building by delivering structured training modules to CCB bankers on relevant sustainability themes, content and products.
- Work closely with the CCB Sales Enablement, Strategy & Marketing teams to create effective go-to-market and communications strategies increasing awareness and visibility on CCB’s sustainability efforts and solutions.
- Support the ideation and delivery of sustainability focused events and conferences.
Ensuring Risk and Governance Adherence
- As key 1LoD lead the screening of Sustainable Finance transactions to manage associated risks.
- Work closely with the Independent Risk and In-Business-Controls to ensure climate change, ESG and sustainability risks are appropriately identified, captured, tracked, and reported.
- Collaborate and support in the execution of climate and environmental risk management, risk policy and regulatory responsibilities in CCB.
- Support the delivery of Citi’s net zero interim 2030 targets ensuring targets and client transition plan assessments are embedded in relevant CCB sectors.
- Help develop and maintain a monitoring and reporting framework for CCB’s sustainability focused transactions and activity to steer business focus and resources as well as supporting the delivery toward Citi’s $1Trillion Sustainable Finance Goals.
Qualifications
- Experience in a Front Office banking role, or related role with client engagement responsibilities - acting as trusted partners for all industries transitioning.
- Strong knowledge on sustainability and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of Corporate Finance and Investment Banking products, with a preference to experience in Sustainable Finance.
- Subject matter expert of Sustainability solutions across the product spectrum, including Treasury Trade Solutions, Markets, Lending, Capital Markets and strategic advisory
- Knowledge of global sustainability frameworks, sustainability policy and regulations, standard and principles, Green Loan Principles, LMA Sustainability-linked Loan Principles and ICMA Green Bond Principles
- Prior or current commercial banking background and has experience building pitch presentations including sustainability with product solutions, and case studies
- Strong Commercial banking product knowledge with experience in originations, structuring and building sustainable finance solutions
- Ability to lead complex regulatory projects working directly with internal stake holder and policy regulators
- Strong relationship management skills. Ability to influence across a matrix organization while using a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage diverse range of internal and external audiences, from peers to senior executives.
- Experience in strategic planning, project management and governance.
- Experience in identifying, assessing and managing sustainability related risks and emerging themes impacting the mid-size business
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong accounting, finance, quantitative, corporate finance, and business writing skills
- Bachelor’s / University degree or equivalent experience (Graduate or postgraduate study in the fields of Sustainability and Energy & Sustainability (ESG) programs a plus)
