Job Overview
Trans Srvcs Sr Analyst is an intermediate level role responsible for ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on time in coordination with the Transaction and Services team. The overall objective is to manage Trade Operations team, apply in-depth disciplinary knowledge to reach solutions and ensure deliverables are completed efficiently and accurately. Focus will be on daily operation of Trade Services and Trade Finance in the area of Import, Exports, Guarantee, Receivables & Payables finances, etc in accordance with the Bank Operating procedures and other Trade related international banking practices like UCP, URC, documentary nuances, etc
Responsibilities:
- This role requires both technical and process knowhow knowledge of complex practices and procedures underpinning Trade and Working Capital Operations
- Decent understanding of International Trade Fundamentals, Trade related Document scrutiny, and general ability to understand Sanctions and AML screening hits, disambiguation against Trade based Money laundering rules
- Good understanding of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) rules, Uniform Custom practices (UCP 600), Uniform rules for Trade Services products (UR725, URC522, etc) along with skills to comprehend, understand and apply them to Trade process flows
- Adequate understanding of the SWIFT standards applicable to Trade and Working Capital solutions for products like documentary credits- Letter of Credit, Standby by Letter of Credit, Guarantees, Acceptances, etc and documentary Collections- Import and Export collections, etc
- Ability to interact and work with Stakeholders from different business verticals- Relationship, Coverage, Trade Product, Trade Sales, etc and ensuring a stable operating environment
- To supervise daily import and export, domestic trade and Trade Finance operations and ensure compliance with Bank's policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Review service quality, production systems, and client reporting within Trade operations with responsibility for overseeing the operational performance, service quality and control environment of the unit.
- Develop/ create the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), for performance monitoring pertaining to the Business Operations and monitor the achievements of the underlying units
- Monitor and assess the Business Operations by reviewing daily exception reports, MIS reports and discussing significant matters with the heads of departments to prevent ageing of issues.
- Evaluate existing as well as new products/ services, operating flows and process design and provide recommendations on ways to improve the effectiveness/ efficiency of the transactions related to the same.
- Provide professional direction/advice on all trade services and trade finance related matters within the unit/Bank.
- Ensure system and quality enhancements by monitoring the respective activities and processes implemented, and by keeping abreast with new methodologies and practices around digitization, digital initiation, new and emerging technologies like AI/ML, OCR, etc
- Analyze complex and variable issues to resolve issues and ensure team deliverables meet performance and quality expectations
- Manage team performance, identify areas of development/training, focus on team coaching and make recommendations for pay increases, promotions, terminations, hiring, etc. of team
- Contribute to business planning, budget management and formulation of procedures
- Serve as backup to the Trade Operations Unit Leads and Operations Head.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of experience in a related Trade operations management role. CDCS, CITF and similar certifications will be an added advantage
- Professional knowledge of Trade and Working capital related products and familiarity with ICC rules underpinning the Trade Operations
- Good understanding of standard banking practices, regulatory and compliance requirement related to Core Trade and Trade finance.
- Proven experience in creating and implementing processes that result in improved business performance
- Effective verbal and written communication and analytical skills
- Very good managerial and interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of systems and processes especially related to the area of responsibility outlined.
- Working knowledge of all aspects of Risk - Credit, Regulatory and Product.
- Reasonable background in operation metrics management and well-versed in operating procedures and process maps.
Education:
Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
