Job Overview

We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Manager, Financial Analyst.

Citi has embarked on a multi-year Finance Transformation initiative to implement a new Global Financial Accounting and General Ledger platform that provides a daily ledger in every legal entity, linking ledger balances and contract level reconciliations to our daily settlement records and contractual commitments. The Strategic Ledger program as it is named, selected Oracle Cloud as the technology platform of choice, after a rigorous technical and functional assessment of the firm’s current ledger platforms against leading industry solutions. The new platform provides enhanced technical capability and supports our finance transformation strategy and realization of our Target Operating Model.  The outcome will be a robust global process, governance, and controls to ensure consistent and materially accurate, complete, and timely ledger data and results.

Financial Analyst specialist will be responsible in the delivery of critical transformational initiatives related to Data Conversion, data reconciliation, data mapping, downstream data analysis and explaining the breaks to Finance users to be used for regulatory and reporting purposes, system enhancements and outbounds to downstream systems.

. As part of the role, we require analyst to carry out below mentioned roles and responsibilities:

  • Review of Business Requirement Document (BRD), understand scope of project and ensure agreed changes are documented at program level
  • Review of Functional Requirements Document (FRD), understand functionality and ensure agreed changes are documented at program level
  • Own and prepare detailed plans along with milestones as per program requirement and discussion / agreement with Technology partners
  • Validate FMDS / DSMT - reference data completeness and accuracy for each month data
  • Analyse and investigate data sets between converted data and legacy data. Review Data Proving Tool (DPT) reconciliations and validate accuracy and completeness of Data Conversion
  • Identify data challenges and financial impact – conversion/upstream / downstream, drives sustainable functional / design solutions and discussion with Ledger Systems Finance / Technology stakeholders. Clearly documents & articulates change request.
  • Perform reconciliation, ensuring correct attributes are sourced from Product Processor
  • Provide input for mapping transformations / changes required between legacy and strategic attributes.
  • Provide input to functional design & provide meaningful explanation of variances.
  • Perform fit/gap analysis and identify solutions for gaps and opportunities for automation to optimize and improve system and process
  • Manages the identification of risks which impact program delivery and ensure mitigation strategies are developed and executed when necessary.
  • Present data and provide walkthrough to the Controllers and resolve any queries raised
  • Investigate, coordinate, resolve and respond to any queries raised through JIRA  
  • Prepare / Review adjustment template to support posting of adjustment through DAMS
  • Participate and support the testing phases of the project including:
    • Escalate potential issues identified in working group sessions and validations
    • Active leadership in working group sessions, planning and various reviews sessions to identify and facilitate remediation of detailed action plans and commitments to Strategic Ledger project.
    • Participate in cross-functional working groups to drive consensus and resolution for agreed actions and targets
    • Responsible for reviewing updated project plans and key milestones related to project completion
    • Facilitate external subject matter experts
    • Ensure the project plans and action items are up to date and published to stakeholders.
    • Build and ensure robust controls around testing and documentation - Update operational procedures & control / checklist and ensure robust documentation in place as and when required for workstream
    • Be responsible for ensuring a comprehensive approach to root cause analysis and remediation
    • Responsible for managing the daily project plans and key milestones.

Competencies & Qualifications: As a successful candidate, you’d ideally need to have the following skills and exposure: 

1. Accounting: Demonstrates strong proficiency in Accounting and Financial reporting. Good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS accounting principles. Demonstrate strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful insights

2. Books and Records: Comprehensive knowledge of managing financial records, identify breaks, requires synthesizing complex data into clear, concise, and insightful summaries that enable Controllers to understand financial performance, identify trends, explain variances, and make informed decisions. The Data Analyst must be able to articulate the story behind the numbers, providing context from the SL data.

3. Financial Statements Experience: Hands-on experience in preparing, analyzing, and validating data for financial statements, understanding the impact of changes on reporting. It involves rigorous quality assurance for reliable financial reporting and providing clear explanations for data variances.

4. Front-to-back Transformation and Change Management: Roles needs driving large-scale, enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, encompassing end-to-end process redesign. Experience in life cycle of ledger implementation. Knowledge of Full suite and upstream / downstream data architecture and mapping is preferable. Proficient with Tableau, SQL preferred. Exposure to Charts of Accounts, Critical data elements for Finance Ledgers, Liquidity, Reg reporting (US GAAP, IFRS etc)

5. Data Change Governance: Role requires disciplined management of data modifications, ensuring all changes are controlled, documented, and aligned with established data policies & regulatory mandates. It encompasses enforcing policies, data management, ensuring auditability/traceability for data quality and compliance.

6. Data-Driven Decision Making: Role requires systematically collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex data to inform strategic choices and operational adjustments. It requires translating analytical findings into clear, actionable insights and effectively communicating them to influence decisions and drive improvements.

7. Problem-Solving: Critical ability to systematically identify, diagnose, and resolve intricate issues & challenges in large-scale transformation projects. It encompasses root cause analysis, solution design, risk mitigation, and leading complex data problem resolution.

8. Control Mindset: Cultivates a robust and accountable control mindset, demonstrating unyielding integrity and an inquisitive approach to proactively identify, investigate, and reconcile ledger discrepancies, thereby preventing financial errors.

Education Qualifications & Experience:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master’s degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, in financial services with a focus on accounting, financial reporting, transformation and program delivery
  • Significant and demonstrable track record of end-to-end delivery of Finance transformation project including ledger implementation is preferable
