Job Overview
The Lead BI Data & Transformation Analyst – VP is a senior-level leadership position responsible for guiding a team in charge of business intelligence and workflow mapping. This role involves comprehensive oversight of the end-to-end lifecycle of mission-critical enterprise BI solutions and workflow mapping tools, ensuring alignment with business process improvement goals. The successful candidate will act as a strategic professional, adept at navigating developments in BI and data transformation, and will contribute significantly to directional strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
Lead, mentor, and manage a lean team (3-8 analysts) of BI producers and in-house workflow mapping tool producers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Understand and address challenges faced by the team, proactively problem-solving and removing roadblocks to ensure efficient project delivery.
Supervise day-to-day staff management issues, including resource management, work allocation, mentoring/coaching, and performance evaluations.
Strategic Vision & Direction
Define, design, and implement the vision and strategy for BI and data visualization, aligning it with business process improvement goals and the broader Global Solutions organization's objectives.
Contribute to directional strategy by leveraging expertise in BI and data transformation, applying knowledge to current projects and future initiatives.
Evaluate new IT developments and evolving business requirements to recommend appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements.
Business Intelligence & Data Transformation
Oversee the design, development, implementation, and support of mission-critical enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) solutions.
Conduct and lead workshops with users/cross-functional teams to understand business processes and workflows, identifying opportunities to leverage data and BI for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains.
Establish and enforce standards for BI development, data governance, and change management to ensure consistency, quality, and reliability across all reporting assets.
Design and develop targeted BI solutions and analytical dashboards/products to ensure client and business objectives are met.
Workflow Mapping & Process Optimization
Provide leadership and guidance for the development and enhancement of in-house workflow mapping tools.
Utilize hands-on understanding of workflow mapping challenges to guide the team and ensure effective process documentation and optimization.
Leverage experience with commercially available workflow tools to enhance the strategic direction and capabilities of the in-house solutions.
Drive the reduction and simplification of process requirements across the organization.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Act as a primary liaison between business users and technologists, ensuring concise, logical, and understandable information exchange.
Influence stakeholders and internal customers through developed communication and diplomacy skills, guiding and convincing others towards strategic objectives.
Ensure a high degree of understanding of end-user requirements and deliver solutions that accurately match these needs.
Work with end users on support tickets, issue resolution through the ticket/request life cycle, and SAR/RFC processes.
Governance & Risk Management
Ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented for the sphere of influence.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
Experience & Technical Skills
5-7 years' experience developing and implementing enterprise-scale dashboards, including working with users in a requirements analysis role.
Extensive experience with data warehouse implementations.
Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts (relational and dimensional).
Experience with process mapping, modeling, and analysis techniques and tools, with an understanding of workflow automation; familiarity with commercially available workflow tools is a plus.
Performance tuning experience related to analytical queries.
Understanding of data integration issues (validation and cleaning), and familiarity with complex data and structures.
BI Experience Required (e.g., Cognos, PowerBI, Tableau).
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) with extensive experience using Excel for data analysis.
Programming/scripting experience and knowledge of software development life cycle is preferred.
Leadership & Soft Skills
Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to mentor junior members of the team.
Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills to support working in project environments that include internal, external, and customer teams.
Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to understand technical challenges and remove roadblocks for the team.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, and assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is a significant plus.
Education & Domain Knowledge
BA/BS in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field is preferable or degrees in Business Administration with a focus on Analytics or Operations Management.An equivalent combination of experience, education and training will be considered. Master's degree preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of business analysis.
Experience with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Internal Corporate Real Estate background or understanding is a significant plus.
Reporting Relationship
This role will report into the Head of the Global Solutions Organization, which leads the technology support area for Real Estate Services (RES).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Speed of Delivery: Efficiency in project execution and timely delivery of BI solutions and workflow mapping tools.
Process Improvement: Reduction and simplification of process requirements.
User Satisfaction: Degree of understanding and alignment with end-user requirements, reflected in the utility and effectiveness of delivered solutions.
Team Performance: Effectiveness in leading and developing the BI and workflow mapping team.
