Job Overview

A Sales trader's primary responsibility involves managing institutional client relationships and generating /crossing flows on an agency basis. Quick decision making abilities, sharp in number crunching and ability to work in a high pressure environment are a few basic requirements of the job given the work requires managing massive notional flows specially in volatile market conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Market Citigroup’s execution capabilities, contribute to team strategy and deliver a high level of customer service
  • Develop new relationships, cement current relationships and share existing relationships with Citi colleagues
  • Cross sell into Swaps / ETFs / PB / Derivatives etc. and offer clients full sales trading coverage.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policy
  • Lead strong governance and controls
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance and Market and Credit Risk in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
  • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics.
  • Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you.
  • Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Excellent content writing skills including market commentaries, be-spoke color on market moves and stock specific color including cash & derivatives.
  • Knowledge about trading systems and self trading is a must.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in developing and maintaining client relationships, from acquisition to ownership of prominent institutional accounts.
  • Knowledge of equity & futures trading, different trading strategies, market micro & macro structure.
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Proven negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred.
