Citi’s Risk Management organization oversees risk-taking activities and assesses risks and issues independently of the front line units.  We establish and maintain the enterprise risk management framework that ensures the ability to consistently identify, measure, monitor, control and report material aggregate risks.

Job Overview

Citi’s global network spans over 90 countries and jurisdictions with on-the-ground presence, providing clients with Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) around the globe.  TTS provides a range of trade, cash, and commercial card solutions to corporations, financial institutions and public sector organizations. Its global platform is unique in the industry for its global reach and flexibility.

TTS Risk Management team consists of a core group of credit and product risk professionals who support the business in analyzing and managing risks to deliver valuable, suitable and appropriate solutions to clients. The team functions out of Tampa, London, Singapore and Mumbai.

The Credit Portfolio Officer supports the TTS Trade senior management in providing oversight over the Trade portfolio in Asia Pacific and is accountable for maintaining Citi’s principles of risk management, and standards on controls and processes, and providing effective review and challenge on trade solutions and various business initiatives.

In this role, you’re expected to: 

  • Provide approval of country and/or product programs, review and identify risk factors and material variances and in country programs from global product programs and work with product managers in defining controls to align the local requirements with global standards.
  • Act as first level reviewer for new product or trade solutions initiatives, identify potential gaps spanning legal, operations, technology, credit and product features requiring further review.
  • Provide approval of Cluster Deal Reviews, review and challenge of the appropriateness of trade facilities.
  • Support TTS Trade Risk in the review and challenge of the appropriateness of structured deals submitted to the Global Deal Review Committee.
  • Partner with the business in the management of the portfolio to meet risk appetite by participating in portfolio reviews, monitoring downgrades in ratings /classification, and overdue payments.
  • Perform deep dive concentration reviews and event-driven analysis and support senior management in presentations of stress test outcomes.
  • Track the Cost of Credit for the Asia Trade portfolio, coordinate with product managers and finance to understand and estimate cost of credit impact of specific transactions.
  • Champion a productivity/process enhancement or similar project, engage with product teams and other stakeholders (regional or global) to review various product or process initiatives/ improvements.
  • Handle special projects as may be assigned.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency. 

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure: 

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in a financial institution, background in trade structuring is a plus
  • Proactive, detail oriented, and analytical
  • Adept at problem-solving with thoughtful follow-through until execution
  • Has good judgement and able to work independently producing high quality results
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capable to influence various stakeholders
  • Articulate, with excellent written and oral communication and presentation skill
  • Education level: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree
