Job Overview

Overview of the Role:

Lead Java Developer is responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities to expand and modernize the OMC technology platform.

A key function within the Banking and International Clients Technology is the client onboarding process at CITI. Our team is responsible for the technology platform that orchestrates the client onboarding functions of multiple business domains. We empower clients and operations teams with interactive tools, APIs and real-time information to automate and streamline onboarding workflows across areas such as Legal, Credit, KYC and Account opening.

We are looking for talented technologists to help build the future of global Client Onboarding Platform as well as addressing the current needs on the existing platform. This role offers high visibility and will make a significant impact on the client onboarding experience, helping shape the future of how we serve our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Be Hands-on on design and development of scalable software solutions using Java, Kotlin, Spring and Restful APIs.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices in software engineering.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle — requirement gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Continuously improve applications' performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements
  • Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
  • Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in full stack development.
  • Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Application Development as a Java backend developer.
  • Hands on experience in Java, Spring, Real time messaging, Hibernate, and associated Java frameworks.
  • Hands on experience in developing product with RESTful APIs and microservices based architecture.
  • Good knowledge of document storage solutions (MongoDB) and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle).
  • Knowledge of ReactJS and core front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), Redux.
  • Exposure to Kotlin is a huge plus.
  • Deep understanding of technology and industry best practices.
  • Software architecture and tradeoff analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and debugging skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication


Education:

Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Master’s degree preferred

Major Field(s) of Study Required for Role: Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
