Job Overview

Individuals in the Enterprise Risk Management are entrusted with managing the diverse and collective impact of the bank's risks. This involves identifying and managing enterprise-level and cross-cutting risks, designing scenarios for stress tests, managing climate risk, and safeguarding against reputational risk. This role is integral to the overarching objectives of the bank, as it ensures the bank's operations are within defined risk appetite and helps maintain financial stability. The role provides a comprehensive view of risk management, enabling the bank to anticipate, assess, and mitigate potential risks, crucial for the bank's sustained growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review all aspects of the firm’s Concentration, risk appetite and limit framework.
  • Take charge of executing components of the ERM transformation program, constantly reviewing, and challenging the processes in place to ensure alignment with the firm's expectations as a required function of the job.
  • Direct and coordinate day-to-day program activities, providing consistent oversight and review.
  • Organize and administer working groups and stakeholder meetings to support key program milestones, monitoring the proceedings closely.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for senior management, board-level committees, audits, and regulatory communication, while ensuring the accuracy and relevance of the information presented.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure on-time delivery of program requirements, managing issue resolution and corrective actions in line with first LOD responsibilities.
  • Escalate program risks as appropriate, after thorough review and analysis.
  • Support regulatory and audit reviews at various levels, providing the necessary oversight to ensure compliance with all rules and standards.
  • Providing robust reviews and challenge of practices and outcomes with an enterprise risk lens.
  • Influencing teams with non-direct reporting lines to ensure compliance and effective implementation risk management strategies.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management principles and practices, particularly in relation to risk appetite frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, oversee, and execute complex programs involving a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading the execution of risk management or transformation programs.
  • Familiarity with coordinating day-to-day program activities and managing working groups and stakeholder meetings.
  • Proficiency in preparing high-quality materials for senior management, board-level committees, audits, and regulatory communication.
  • Experience in partnering with internal teams to deliver program requirements and manage issue resolution.
  • Proven capability to escalate program risks as appropriate.
  • Experience in supporting regulatory and audit reviews at various levels.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to drive transformation efforts and lead complex programs.
  • Excellent analytical skills to assess and manage risks associated with the Concentration, risk appetite and Limits frameworks.
  • Superior communication and collaboration skills for working with a wide range of stakeholders and conveying information effectively to senior management and board-level committees.
  • Proficiency in planning, organizing, and coordinating program activities and stakeholder meetings.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prepare high-quality materials for audits and regulatory communication.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to manage issue resolution and corrective actions.
  • Ability to escalate program risks appropriately after careful review and assessment.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for risk management.
  • Strong decision-making skills, incorporating risk considerations and the firm's expectations.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with excellent time management skills to ensure on-time delivery of program requirements.
  • High ethical standards and professionalism, with the ability to support regulatory and audit reviews.

Education

Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred

This role on the Risk Appetite & Limits team will focus on driving sustained implementation of the Limit and Threshold Management Policy across the first and second lines of defense through in-depth periodic and ad hoc reviews of risk category limit frameworks and associated controls. This role will also provide thought leadership on continued enhancements to the Limit and Threshold Management Policy, process simplification and the translation of policy obligations to limit management system features.
