Job Overview

The Portfolio Optimization Relationship Manager is a strategic professional who follows latest trends in their own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Excellent communication skills required to negotiate externally as well as internally. Developed diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence, and convince others, particularly customers as well as other internal partners. Accountable for significant direct business results and authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business. Makes strategic decisions and responsible for escalating relevant situations appropriately. Ability to undertake and manage multiple projects for desired results.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses the portfolio of clients and defines a strategy that best suits Citi and clients' interests
  • Calls on clients to negotiate and manage relationships and proactively owns, responds to, uncovers and anticipates future needs, roadblocks or risks, and expectations
  • Partners with other teams within the Commercial Bank, Retail Bank, and other areas to assess clients within CCB and other line of businesses
  • Works with the team to develop an exceptional level of client service and to build solid relationships that will lead to substantial improvements in profitability.
  • Manage relationships with large credit exposures, coordinating and supervising the entire process, ensuring the proper application of policies and institutional processes
  • Lead highly sensitive and complex discussions with clients regarding the restructuring, reduction, or termination of credit relationships. This includes developing and executing sophisticated de-marketing strategies for credit relationships that no longer align with Citi’s strategic objectives, risk appetite, or regulatory mandates. Demonstrate exceptional diplomacy, negotiation, and persuasive communication skills to navigate these challenging conversations, ensuring decisions are conveyed clearly, ethically, and with minimal impact on Citi's reputation or broader client relationships. Proactively manage client expectations and objections, offering clear rationales and facilitating smooth transitions in strict adherence to all internal policies and regulatory requirements. This requires an advanced ability to balance Citi's interests with maintaining client goodwill, even in adverse circumstances.
  • Experienced in underwriting principals and risk management
  • Executes strategic initiatives launched centrally at all levels
  • Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behavior, conduct, business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Ensures the appropriate “Know Your Client” (KYC) and other compliance deliverables are met
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's policies / guidelines at all time
  • Ability to mentor, guide and lead the junior team members regularly   

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the commercial banking industry
  • Sound knowledge of banking and investment products and process as well as a track record of providing sound banking and financial advice and solutions to clients
  • Highly focused, able to rapidly identify key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced credit skills; structures more complex deals, including global transactions
  • Demonstrates an expert level of Early Warning Detection skills
  • Demonstrates advanced Citi’s credit-process and credit-appetite knowledge
  • Ability to work effectively in team setting
  • Ability to coordinate multi-functional teams to provide an exceptional client experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills (e.g. negotiation, consultative skills, leadership,)
  • Ability to work under pressure while making sound decisions
  • Highly focused, able to rapidly identify key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities
  • Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business.
  • A proactive approach in looking for ways in strengthening business relationship with clients, delivers a simple, secure and seamless client experience
  • Ability to embrace new technology and understand the role digital plays in the experience we deliver for our clients
  • Able to quickly adapt priorities based on the latest data insights
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$158,400.00 - $237,600.00
