Relationship Associate-Assistant Vice President
An exciting opportunity to join the UK Corporate Banking Team, within a client facing role situated within the Industrials sector (covering Aviation, Diversified Industrials, Metals & Mining & Shipping). The Relationship Associate (RA) plays a highly visible and critical role in supporting the Relationship Management team, focused on client on-boarding and relationship management activities across a mega sector of client segments and geographies, ensuring the seamless delivery of Citi’s full products and services breadth. This role serves as the singular organizational touchpoint for our corporate clients, providing unmatched access and coordination across Citi's global network.
Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management & Strategic Partnership:
- Works in partnership with Corporate Bankers, providing consistent, enthusiastic, and superior quality support for all facets of relationship management activities, managing our clients day-to-day banking needs across Citi’s diverse product suite (including Lending Products, Markets, Cash Management and Trade) thereby freeing up Bankers’ time to focus on strategic marketing efforts and revenue generation.
- Acts as the indispensable "glue" for 'a One Citi' approach, coordinating seamlessly across diverse product suites ensuring flawless transaction execution. The RA serves as a pivotal client engagement orchestrator, deeply embedded in the daily treasury operations of Corporate Banking clients. This role is key to maintaining strong client relationships, delivering best-in-class service while leveraging Citi's extensive global network (GSG) across over 100 countries.
- Drives client satisfaction and retention through proactive needs management, issue resolution, and seamless cross-functional coordination with key internal partners including the Global Network, Product Partners, Risk, Operations., to name a few.
- Builds close working relationships with our client’s Treasury teams and extensively collaborates with them with regards to the extension of products and credit for their subsidiaries across Cit’s global network. Often viewed by clients as a trusted extension of the Banker, with regards to providing comprehensive support for routine (BAU) banking requests.
- Develops an institutional understanding of the client, including their treasury model, philosophy, funding model, and cash management strategy, to build efficient, productive, and strong relationships.
Services Product & Solution Management:
- Works as an integral part of the Corporate Banking Team, leading efforts to maintain and fine-tune existing Services product solutions.
- Supports Corporate Bankers with Services product origination (full Services product suite), onboarding, and query resolution for Banking Managed Services client relationships. Engage Implementation and Account Services Teams for onboarding activities.
- Actively assists in the systematic identification and diligent pursuit of new business opportunities within both existing client accounts and prospective engagements. Strategically leverages Citi's vast network and specialized Product Partners to meticulously progress identified opportunities, translating potential into tangible growth. Works closely in partnership across the Banking and Services Sales teams to identify opportunities to enhance clients’ existing cash management solutions, focusing on revenue expansion and retention of existing business.
- Coordinates and maintains account structures, assists with account opening/closing, and ensures correct liquidity structures to meet client needs.
- Responsible for working with key stakeholders to drive deals through Implementation ensuring ramp up of revenue and product adoption.
- Provides support during product implementations and systems enhancements. Work in partnership with Services Team to provide relevant support and drive project completion.
- Handles queries on various Services products for Banker Managed Services client relationships, including liquidity structures, trade finance products, Wordlink, and security accounts etc. Manages account structure requirements, sales, and general banking needs.
- Works with the billing team on pricing issues and troubleshoot channels services, including Citidirect and CitiConnect.
- Partners with Operations to meticulously coordinate and oversee the updating of customer account and product structures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Credit Management:
- Coordinates the global credit allocation process for clients across Citi’s network, engaging with the GSG Network, Product Partners, Risk, Transaction Management, and CRMS to facilitate efficient credit approval requests.
- Liaises directly with client Treasury Teams to confirm Head Office support for new credit requests. Ensure all required support documentation, such as Parent Guarantees and Letters of Comfort, are accurately lodged and comply with Citi’s support policies.
- Collaborates with Risk/ICM and Transaction Management Partners to manage client credit requirements in accordance with Risk policy requirements. Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of Citi’s product suite and its application to client credit allocation.
- Prepares facility, exposure, and relationship data for Bankers. Coordinates global facility reviews and recommendations during annual processes, implementing necessary credit adjustments to optimize capital deployment across client relationships.
- Supports Bankers in ad-hoc data review exercises and data clean-ups.
- Develops deep knowledge and practical expertise in a wide range of Support, Credit, and Legal documentation requirements.
- Actively supports ICM Underwriting in the timely resolution of data exceptions through close collaboration with GSG, Product Partners, CRMS.
KYC & Regulatory Compliance:
- Leads the navigation of KYC and broader regulatory matters for the designated portfolio of client names. Supports KYC/AML requirements for new business opportunities and oversees KYC renewal processes within business lines to align with functions.
- Develops a proficient understanding and strict adherence to Citi's KYC processes, internal systems, and the prevailing regulatory environment. Exhibits sound judgment and meticulous attention to detail when reviewing and approving KYC records. Proactively engage in the resolution of any AML-related risk issues.
- Ensures AML inquiries are handled promptly and thoughtfully, adhering strictly to Citi policies. Ensure KYC and AML controls are in place for all new client requirements through established processes.
Qualifications:
- Ideally 5+ years in the Banking Industry and/or cash management and trade product experience

Proactive in identifying and expertly resolving complex client and operational challenges.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain robust professional contacts at client peer levels and within Citi's expansive internal network. Leverages these relationships strategically to achieve optimal client outcomes and foster growth.
- Possesses an exceptional ability to adapt and calibrate communication styles to effectively engage and coordinate a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders, from senior executives to operational teams, ensuring clarity, consensus, and efficient execution.
- Meticulous attention to detail, to ensure data quality excellence throughout the client portfolio.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage & synthesize many pieces of solution / technical data into a single, flowing solution within a tight timeline.
- Possesses an in-depth knowledge of Citi's product range.
