Role Introduction / Overview:
Financial Books & Record (FB&R) Accounting Transformation Manager
Business / Team Overview:
The Financial Books & Records (FB&R) Transformation Initiative has been established under the wider Citi Finance Transformation and comprises three pillars - Accounting, Ledgers and Close. The Accounting Transformation Manager will support the delivery of Citi’s Finance Transformation priorities, specifically the Strategic Ledger Program to implement a new platform with enhanced technical capability to support our finance transformation strategy and realization of our Target Operating Model (including global and local processes). Thus, a proven track record in large-scale complex programs, accounting implementation, change management, process simplification & re-engineering and technology enabled (SaaS/Oracle/SAP) implementation are preferred..
Some of the key responsibilities in the role:
- Direct Product Owners/ Workstream leads in the successful execution of FB&R Sub-Ledger & Accounting strategy and related workstreams, including operating model, process and controls.
- Work with existing Accounting and Sub-Ledger platforms to identify and define requirements, including key use cases and stories, for integration into program roadmap to decommission legacy capabilities and platforms.
- Deliver the transformation of US GAAP, IFRS and Local GAAP Accounting through defining requirements and implementing multi-GAAP accounting rules.
- Drive the identification of data sources and data requirements to feed into the Accounting Hub and Sub-Ledger.
- Participate in testing, deployment of system modules and provide inputs to defining the future state service delivery and sustainment model.
- Own workstream deliverables and manage intra- and inter-dependencies across business stakeholder groups.
- Provide workstream level metrics and business cases including risk reduction and efficiency measures.
- Deliver workstream communications, prepare and present FB&R updates to senior management forums.
Development Value:
- Partner with Accounting Transformation director to coordinate alignment of Accounting Hub and Sub-Ledger functionality.
- Participate in strategic ledger governance meetings and complete deliverables within Integrated Project Plan
- Build strong relationships with Program Office Leaders, Program Sponsors and Technology Leaders as well as stakeholders in other Citi-wide initiatives (Finance Data initiative, Consent Order), Product Control, Financial Control, and operational stakeholders (FRSS) to identify further transformation opportunities.
- Partner with other Product Owners (Accounting, Ledger, Close, Operating Model, Process, or Controls) to coordinate priorities and ensure consistency of deliverables and artifacts across all workstreams.
What knowledge, skills and experience we’ll need from you:
- Years of relevant experience, within the financial services industry highly preferred.
- Requires a comprehensive knowledge of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the goals of the function.
- Requires communication and diplomacy skills in order to guide and influence others.
- Experience and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions in the absence of detailed instructions.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
- In depth knowledge of banking products / systems highly preferred.
- CPA preferred.
