Job Overview

Citi's Global Markets business is a leading financial services franchise, offering unparalleled access to trading, hedging, and investment opportunities across a broad range of asset classes. Within this dynamic environment, our Rates business stands as a cornerstone, delivering innovative solutions and deep market insights to our institutional clients worldwide. We pride ourselves on our sophisticated trading capabilities, extensive global footprint, and commitment to client success, operating at the forefront of financial innovation.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an AVP/VP EURO SSA Trader. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a critical trading desk, managing risk and optimizing returns within the European Supranational, Sovereign, and Agency (SSA) bond market. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in market making, client execution, and strategic positioning, directly impacting the profitability and market presence of Citi's Fixed Income franchise. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional looking to deepen their expertise in fixed income trading within a global tier-one investment bank.

Primary Responsibilities of the role

  • Actively manage a trading book focusing on EURO-denominated Supranational, Sovereign, and Agency (SSA) bonds, ensuring adherence to risk limits and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute client orders and provide competitive pricing for a diverse range of institutional clients, fostering strong relationships and enhancing market share.
  • Develop and implement proprietary trading strategies, leveraging market insights and quantitative analysis to identify and capitalize on trading opportunities.
  • Monitor market developments, economic indicators, and geopolitical events impacting the EURO SSA market, adapting trading strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with sales, research, and other trading desks to optimize inventory, share market intelligence, and cross-sell relevant products.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of trading infrastructure, risk models, and analytical tools.

What we need from you

  • Proven experience as a trader within a leading investment bank, with a specific focus on EURO SSA bonds or broader European government bond markets.
  • Strong understanding of fixed income products, market microstructure, and trading dynamics within the SSA space.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risk effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Solid client management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA) are a plus.
