We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Credit Index Trader to join our dynamic Macro Credit Flow Trading desk in London. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a significant franchise book and drive the growth of our Credit Index business. You will play a key role in shaping our European strategy, collaborating with a global team. What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are::

  • Develop and execute trading strategies to generate revenue and achieve individual and desk targets, while carefully considering market conditions, franchise opportunities, and client needs. This includes actively managing positions, identifying profitable trading opportunities, and optimizing trade execution.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their investment objectives and providing tailored solutions. Proactively engage with clients to identify new business opportunities and deepen existing relationships, aligning with the desk's overall strategy and target client segments.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across technology, operations, and other relevant functions to improve the operational efficiency of the Credit Index business. Contribute to the development and implementation of robust, market-leading trading systems and processes.

  • Oversee the risk management framework for the Credit Index trading book, ensuring compliance with all applicable limits and regulatory requirements. Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and contribute to the development and enhancement of risk management policies and procedures.

  • Work closely with the global trading team to develop and execute trading strategies, share market intelligence, and achieve revenue and franchise goals. Contribute to the development of the European Credit business strategy, aligning with global objectives.

  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative trading culture that emphasizes ethical conduct, responsible finance, and continuous improvement.

What we will need from you:

  • Proven experience managing risk and in-depth knowledge of credit products and clients.

  • Track record of collaborating with Sales, Research, and other teams to provide market liquidity and build franchise value.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster strong internal and external relationships.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Strong understanding of Bloomberg, booking systems, trading protocols, and closing procedures.

  • Familiarity with and adherence to Citi's Code of Conduct and relevant regulatory requirements.

Candidates applying for this role must be aware that it is a Certified Role, subject to the FCA and PRA Certification Regime.

The Certification Regime is one element of the Individual Accountability Regime which came into effect on 7 March 2016.

Under the Certification Regime, Citi UK regulated entities (Citi entities) must ensure that employees working in certain roles categorised as specified significant harm functions (Certified Roles) are assessed as fit and proper to carry out their role.

Under the guidance provided by the FCA and PRA, firms should have regard to the following when assessing fitness and propriety:

In order to comply with the requirements of the Certification Regime, Citi entities must take reasonable care to ensure that an employee does not perform a Certified Role without first being certified as Fit and Proper. This assessment will be carried out through extensive interviews, self-disclosures, permitted criminal record checks, regulated reference checks, credit checks and other background screening checks.
