We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Officer, Loan Documentation & Processing Intermediate Analyst Hybrid (Internal Job Title: Loan Doc & Proc Intmd Analyst – C11) based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Loan Doc & Proc Intmd Analyst is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.
In this role, you’re expected to:
- This role will support a team providing controls & issue governance across Lending Operations Asia.
- Correspondences and strategizing with partners & stakeholders in Asia are a must.
- Involves performing controls definition, monitoring, & testing.
- The individual will support internal & external reviews by reviewing & signing off associated deliverables.
- Keeping updated on policies and regulations & ensuring regional alignment is expected.
- The role will be involved in Lending Operations enterprise functions such as Continuity of Business & Records Management.
- Makes recommendations to management to support process improvement.
- Responsible to validate procedures, tools and training in the department to meet policy and provide control recommendations and ensure department process are align with global standard policies, procedures and tools
- Ensuring that all critical functions are documented in the procedures, and that all controls are appropriately defined and implemented.
- Support Global Risk and Control team on all control related initiatives and other activities to ensure compliance with Citi policies and regulatory requirements.
- Resolves problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents.
- Makes evaluative judgments based on the analysis of factual information and provides assistance in the implementation of loan documentation process improvements.
- Managing deliverables requests from regulators / auditors relating to quality assurance; collecting information and documentation in timely manner, tracking and documenting requests and responses.
- Responsible in compiling, preparing and responding to findings raised during internal business reviews, audits, exams and MCA tests.
- Responsible in developing and deploying appropriate control monitoring mechanisms via Manager’s Control Assessment (MCA).
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:
- Bachelor’s/University degree
- At least 4-5 year related experience in loan operations.
- Experience in loan operations, MCA controls & Audits; and Operation Risk Management is preferred for this position.
- Individual must be accountable, ethical, results oriented, trustworthy, and credible.
- Preferred skills;
- Ability to manage control practices demonstrating a risk-based approach
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills
- Possess the ability to work with various levels of management and build and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong influence/negotiation skills.
- Ability to proficiently use MS Office products, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Seeking a dedicated professional with a strong controls background, analytical thinking, and openness to the role’s regional aspect.
- Nice to have skills:
- Knowledge of accounting principles and accounting practices.
- Moderate knowledge of Business Processes, Systems and Tools used in the Loan Process.
- Basic awareness of the industry, competitors and trends.
- Comprehension of Financial Products, such as Cash Management, Treasury, the Trade Lifecycle.
- Knowledge of compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and adhering to Policies.
- Previous expertise of using evaluative and ethical judgment to make decisions.
- Understanding of identifying, mitigating, resolving, managing and escalating risks and issues.
- Fundamental ability to think strategically, considering the end-to-end, adjacent impacts to the broader system; to formulate strategies and innovate.
- Reasonable ability to analyze and think critically and conceptually and interpretively to solve problems. Includes ability to identify opportunities, assess needs, conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses, synthesize insights and provide recommendations.
- Ability to manage, improve, and design processes and standard operating procedures, including managing KPIs and SLAs to monitor and enhance service quality and process integrity.
- Can work well under pressure and multi-task with a sense of urgency
- Proactive to escalate issues and drive change on process
- Deliver results and able to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to collaborate with team members within and outside of own team
