Job Overview
Overview
This senior leadership role is pivotal in creating an environment that fosters cross-functional collaboration, continuous improvement, and a robust risk and control culture. The Senior Vice President (SVP) will lead a team for Cash Securities Settlements, driving the strategy for both risk management and business transformation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the global transformation efforts within Securities Settlements Operations across Fixed Income and Equities. This position requires a strategic leader who can act as a liaison for various projects, programs, and initiatives, while ensuring inherent risks are proactively identified, assessed, and mitigated. The SVP will merge the responsibilities of risk oversight with the leadership of strategic change, ultimately managing a unified team focused on both controls and transformation.
This leader will be an advocate for operational lines within Securities Settlements and work closely with the Market Operations Transformation Program Management Office (PMO), technology partners, and global operations managers to support complex, critical large-scale projects that advance the business, its strategic initiatives, and adapt to industry changes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Risk & Control Leadership:
- Lead the assessment of risk when business decisions are made, setting the standard for the firm's reputation and the safeguarding of Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
- Oversee regulatory compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, ensuring adherence to Policy and upholding sound ethical judgment.
- Establish a first line-of-defense culture, embedding accountability and ownership of risk across operations teams.
- Direct the strategy for proactive risk identification by overseeing process walkthroughs, emerging risk analysis, and the assessment of control design effectiveness against firmwide standards.
- Manage complex root cause analyses of significant Operational Risk Events, ensuring transparent, accurate, and timely reporting and escalation to executive management.
- Provide senior-level guidance on the application of existing and new firm-wide policies and standards, ensuring procedural changes are implemented correctly and within defined timelines.
- Direct the preparation for internal audits, setting communication standards and proactively engaging with audit teams through business monitoring and issue discussions.
Transformation & Change Management:
- Drive business solutions aligned with the global strategy; oversee business requirements that are strategic and well-understood by all stakeholders.
- Review and champion strategic opportunities for innovative solutions to re-engineer processes, build scale, and mitigate risk across the settlements lifecycle.
- Lead the end-to-end management of control issues, from identification and root cause analysis to the design and implementation of high-quality, sustainable corrective actions and governance over remedial actions.
- Strengthen global Managers Control Assessment(MCA) execution by uplifting control design, improving process-to-control mapping accuracy, and ensuring completeness.
- Partner with senior sponsors and technology leaders to ensure that all initiatives have trackable, tangible benefits with associated KPIs.
- Utilize data and process analytics tools to identify inefficiencies and monitor transformation outcomes.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead, supervise, coach, and develop a team of risk, control, and project professionals, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
- Serve as a strategic partner to business heads and other stakeholders, acting as an analytical and procedural expert in the settlement cycle.
- Develop and deliver executive-level presentations to Markets Operations and business management covering program status, plans, risks, and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with technology partners to ensure delivery plan owners remain accountable with clear plans aligned to Operations' strategic requirements.
- Closely follow industry trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, and build effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders to drive productivity and efficiency.
- Represent Settlements Operations in governance forums, regulatory interactions, and risk committees.
