Job Overview
Payments and Receivables (P&R) Technology is a part of the Services Technology organization and is embarking on several global transformations for P&R. We are seeking a Director of Instant Payments to lead our transformation of instant payments infrastructure. The successful candidate requires a deep knowledge and successful track record in developing and delivering solutions across continuum from client experience to the global market infrastructures. The candidate will be leading a global team that provides instant payment services to clients and all lines of businesses within Citi. He/she will report to the Global Head of Emerging Payments Technology organization. The role will have a global focus providing instant payment capabilities working across a variety of stakeholders such as Product, Operations and Risk at both a regional and global level.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate and partner with the business, infrastructure, and architecture teams to define strategic target states that will enable scalability and resiliency of the instant payments infrastructure within Citi.
- Develop roles, responsibilities, and team structure to deliver against a transformational agenda while ensuring efficient use of resources and demonstrating alignment to business goals.
- Manage ambitious and strategic technology change that aligns with the overall Services Operations & Technology goals of scalability and resilient infrastructure.
- Create an engineering excellence culture through knowledge sharing, innovation and embracing best practices through agile delivery. Ensure adherence to Technology Engineering KPIs
- Develop strong SRE mindset in the engineering teams with an emphasis 7x24 availability of solutions.
- Manage regulatory agenda and attestations to our compliance with the messaging network in line with overall Services Regulatory and Control agendas.
- Responsible for managing our technology engagement with various market infrastructures across the firm.
- Drive cost savings and greater efficiencies through innovation, process improvement and simplification of the technology stack and engineering processes.
- Act as a changemaker for our cultural and agile transformation with basis on diversity and inclusion
- Lead a collaboration space with the regional teams to bridge the gaps between our global target architecture and local requirements
- Assess and manage risk around the use of the instant payments infrastructure that guards the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citi, it’s clients and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy.
- Apply sound ethical judgement regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 15+ years of engineering experience building multi-tiered engines with high availability and throughput including 5 years of management experience.
- Experience with scaled agile delivery from building to coaching teams to achieve client value with speed.
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern software development processes and practices
- Experience with modernizing and migrating applications/clients to strategic architectures
- Advanced knowledge of industry practices, standards, rules, and regulations for ISO payment schemas.
- Experience in collaborating and influencing across regional/global cross-functional teams
- Understanding of financial control, budgets and experience estimating solutions
- Experience with technology control frameworks and regulatory attestations and audits
- Ability to build and maintain peer and business partnerships to support overall success of the Services organization.
- Broad experience across a variety of applications, technologies, and domains in the payments industry
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate with internal stakeholders, third parties and clients with succinct messaging.
- Relevant experience migrating key product flows from heritage platforms onto next gen technology
- Experience building hybrid cloud architectures leveraging Java, Kafka, Mongo, OSE and AWS.
- Experience designing and implementing payments processing solutions using GPP-SP and its underlying tech stack (Java, Websphere, MQ, OracleDB)
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree with a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
- Certification or specialization in finance and banking regulation would be a plus
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
