Job Overview
The Credit Analyst 2 is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.
Responsibilities:
- Spread new, renewal, interim financial statements and business/individual tax returns in accordance with bank guidelines (focus on more complex financial statements (i.e. Not-For-Profit).
- Provide succinct analysis based on customers, peers, the portfolio, and the industry.
- Provide preliminary analysis of simple to complex credits, including calculation of cash flow, debt service coverage, collateral coverage, and guarantor net worth.
- Coordinate with the Credit Officers, Credit Analysts, Other Credit Center Staff and Relationship Managers.
- Act in an advisory role for the Credit Officers/Relationship Managers on loan agreement/covenants clarification and monitoring.
- Complete quality assurance reviews to ensure application packages and analysis are thorough and accurate prior to forwarding for underwriting.
- Provide leadership, training, and coaching to Credit Analyst I positions and back up support to the
- Application Preparation Team Manager.
- May act as an industry specialist with responsibility for SBA/EXIM loan analysis
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years previous experience in a financial institution with a focus on credit analysis and spreading software.
- The ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) accounting, financial regulations, financial products, and credit analysis
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience

Institutional Credit Management (ICM), is seeking an Underwriting Analyst to join its Affordable Housing Underwriting Team to support the ongoing credit monitoring responsibilities for Citi Community Capital (CCC).
CCC provides a suite of financial products to help affordable housing developers construct, rehabilitate, refinance, and acquire affordable multifamily housing across the country. The function of the role is to help oversee and support, including but are not limited to: portfolio analysis, risk identification, credit underwriting and risk analysis, loan servicing coordination, quality control, monitoring and reporting for wholesale credit businesses, requisite documentation, satisfaction of regulatory requirements and internal policy compliance.
The Underwriter Analyst role is responsible for underwriting, closing and securitizing loans in coordination with the investment banking team. The overall objective is to finance new construction and the preservation of affordable and workforce rental housing, as well as office, retail, warehouse/industrial, multifamily, hotel, and self-storage properties for Citigroup.
Responsibilities:
- Interface with and support bankers in underwriting requests for commercial credit extensions for new and existing clients with ownership responsibilities for sound credit decisions and compliance with internal procedures/credit risk policy guidelines and standards.
- Prepare a detailed written credit summary of commercial applicants requesting credit by analyzing the business, interpreting the finance need, identifying the strengths and prevailing risk factors and rendering a final credit decision.
- Perform detailed financial analysis on companies, including trend and ratio analysis, and interpret the financial information.
- Perform credit and personal financial statement analysis on individuals, guarantors, and co-borrowers in order to assess repayment capacity based on cash flow statements, tax returns, and statements.
- Perform industry and geographical research and other due diligence as needed.
- Maintain a solid understanding of Citibank products and services - within Citi Community Capital and the broader organization.
- Maintain compliance with Citibank credit policies/practices and regulatory policies, to ensure business unit is in adherence to the above and receives satisfactory ratings from internal and external auditors.
- Other duties as required to support business unit and company goals.

Qualifications:
- 2-5 years relevant experience
- Previous experience in credit risk management or equivalent training and experience preferably in the financial services industry.
- Ability to apply credit and risk principles toward business goals.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with a high sense of urgency.
- Must be highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and possess effective.
- Interpersonal, organizational and analytic skills.
