We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Vice President, Research Strategist - Hybrid (Internal Job Title: Research Strategist - C13) based in Hong Kong.  Being part of our team means that we’ll provide you with the resources to meet your unique needs, empower you to make healthy decisions and manage your financial well-being to help plan for your future. 

The Research Strategist is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise.

Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

In this role, you’re expected to:

• The strategist is expected to collect, outline and explain information giving insights that drive creative solutions in the Macro environment in which our clients businesses operate. Their insights provide clarity the client needs to make investment decisions.
• In this case, the strategist is expected to cover China, HK, Taiwan, South Korea from a macro as well as FX and FI point of view.
• The strategist is expected to come up with trade ideas, write market commentary, host and attend conference calls based on events that impact these markets.
• Knowledge of other parts of EM Asia will also be seen as favorable but is not important.
• Interact with clients internal and external as requested by Sales & Trading
• Develop relationships with Citi clients
• Collaboration with colleagues
• Stay informed on developments that have a bearing on the macro environment
• Address client requests
• Engage in Citi’s broader corporate objectives, such as recruitment and training of junior analysts and associates
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

• 6-10 years relevant experience covering China, HK, Taiwan, S Korea fixed income and currencies.
• Clear and effective communications both written and spoken
• Advanced technical skills
• Methodical approach and demonstrated organizational capabilities
• Good interpersonal skills and proven team player
• Possess a positive attitude, drive and initiative
• Secure and maintain applicable licenses
• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent / Master’s degree preferred.

This position falls under the Mandatory Reference Checking (MRC) Scheme, a standardised reference-checking arrangement that is designed to support the integrity of authorized institutions regulated by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
