HK Cross Border Payments Product Manager, Director
Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) provides award-winning integrated cash management and trade finance services to multinational corporations, financial institutions, and public sector organizations across the world. The TTS business provides market-leading capabilities and solutions, to build and develop deep client relationships across 90+ countries globally.
Cross Border Payments in Hong Kong is a key growth driver for Citi’s Cash Management business and a critical component of Citi’s differentiated network versus competitors. Hong Kong is a large global financial centre and a market with vibrant transformation in digital payment systems; and along with the growth of innovative ecommerce companies and digital players, presents an exciting opportunity to drive cross border payments growth, innovation, and development of our solutions for clients. The business goal is to accelerate our revenue growth in a sustainable manner over the next several years, which will require executing these growth and transformation priorities successfully.
We are looking for an exceptional team player to join the Hong Kong Payments team, as the Hong Kong Cross-Border Payments Product Manager, to manage our Cross Border Payments business, which is the largest revenue contributor to our Payments business and one of the largest globally. The role requires close coordination with various stakeholders at global, regional, and country level and is an exciting opportunity to drive the fast-evolving cross border payments business and create material impact.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for Citi’s cross border and cross currency payments business in Hong Kong including delivering financial targets, crafting product strategy, driving commercialization, ensuring superior client experience, and delivering on the technology and modernization agenda.
The ideal candidate will have a strong execution bias and demonstrate proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders across the organization including sales, coverage, FX, operations, technology and other functional partners. The role requires strong analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills combined with the ability to influence others and build effective partnerships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own and drive the Cross-Border Payments P&L in Hong Kong by growing Citi’s transactional FX and fee revenues.
- Engage the country and regional/cluster teams across product, sales, coverage in commercializing the cross-border payments product proposition across client segments. Lead the product agenda for the Hong Kong market and work with global and regional/cluster product teams to ensure we continue to improve and strengthen our capabilities, defend existing flows and attract new clients/flows.
- Drive collaboration with FX partners to grow transactional FX flows by focusing on conceptualizing and executing targeted initiatives and bundled solutions by client segment and country.
- Use deep product expertise to support a rapidly changing business environment for Citi and its clients.
- Understand customer needs and market trends and translate market opportunities into new capabilities and product enhancements.
- Drive the platform modernization agenda, ensuring product roadmap addresses current gaps, is globally scalable, and positions Citi’s cross border payments offering for the future.
- Partner and collaborate with variety of stakeholders including O&T, legal, compliance, AML and risk to strengthen the product delivery, streamline processes, drive operational excellence and maintain a strong risk and control environment.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made and apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Build credible and trusting relationships with network partners internally and promote business ties with external industry stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years’ of relevant experience in transaction banking / payments business / commercial or corporate banking
- Strong knowledge of product management disciplines preferred
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Master’s degree preferred
Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of payments, cash management, SWIFT, FX, ecommerce and emerging payment flows.
- Strong interpersonal skills and credibility to lead and influence wide ranging stakeholder base.
- Problem solving skills; Organization, ability to multitask and apply good judgement.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize and work under pressure across time zones to meet deadlines and client commitments.
- Strong execution skills, thorough follow-through & attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; strong presentation skills and competence in MS Office.
- Good understanding of the competitive landscape, client requirements, and other competing solutions would be a plus.
