In this role, you’re expected to:

The Lending business of Wealth offers a diverse product range including Securities Backed Lending (SBL), Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Aircraft, Art-backed Finance as well as tailored solutions to target market clients of the Private Bank. Wealth Credit Management (WCM) is a critical component of the First Line of Defense for credit risk management and works within the business with Independent Risk partners to ensure best-in-class risk and controls, as well as client responsiveness.

Key responsibilities of the group include credit analysis, documentation, risk identification, exposure monitoring and associated administration with Citi Global Wealth lending activities. Within WCM, Wealth Credit Management Underwriter manages a portfolio of clients with lending requirements. The lending is typically fully collateralized against either investment portfolios, Commercial Real Estate, Aircraft, Art Collection, or Illiquid Listed Stocks. We expect the incumbent to be credit professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy of the Private Banking Lending business. It would be an added advantage if the candidate also has a recognized technical authority in this field. We also expect the candidate to have basic commercial awareness for lending transactions. This is an individual contributor role and part of a larger regional team, thus good inter-personal communication and interaction skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince other internal stakeholders, and occasionally external customers as well.

  • Act as 1st Line of Defense job role and works closely with the Business Partners in Lending and Client Management

  • Assist Lending Advisors with preparing Credit Greenlight memos (as applicable)

  • Full credit underwriting with appropriate risk return characteristics based on Citi's Credit and Product Standards, policies and procedures

  • Preparation of Credit Applications ensuring accuracy and completeness of data

  • Financial Analysis including cash flow statements

  • Collateral Evaluation covering investment portfolios, commercial real estate, art, aircraft and other asset classes

  • Prepare and negotiate credit documentation for facilities, including liaison with internal and external legal counsel, as required; as well as undertaking the annual review of documentation

  • Prepare and review facility covenants

  • Assist in Portfolio Management, including Annual Credit Reviews, covenant monitoring and compliance, waivers and extensions and all related system maintenance with the Data Management Teams.

  • Problem Recognition and assisting with classified loans remedial management

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience

  • 6-10 years of experience

  • Strong and proven analytical, financial structuring and execution skills

  • Experience as a credit officer

  • Strong knowledge of Citibank’s Credit Policies, Product Programs and Citi Policies

  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of Financial Analysis including Financial and cash flow modelling

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

  • Good negotiation skills

  • Strong initiative and interactive approach to problem solving

  • Displays flexibility and independence in a demanding environment

  • Team Player
