Job Overview
The Vendor Management team within Marketing, Transformation and Deliveryis responsible forthe strategic sourcing, selection, onboarding, performance management, and relationship cultivation of all external vendors critical to the successful execution of marketing initiatives. This role ensures that our marketing efforts are supported by high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable vendor partnerships, aligning with strategic marketingobjectivesand operational excellence. The Vendor Manager will act as a primary liaison between internal marketing teams and external service providers, driving efficiency, mitigating risks, and fostering innovation within our vendor ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
Vendor Strategy & Sourcing:
- Collaborate with channel leads todevelopandimplementa comprehensive vendor strategy for marketing execution,identifyingkey vendor categories (e.g.digital platforms, content creation/management/deployment, print services).
- Conduct market research toidentifypotential new vendors, emerging technologies, and best practices in marketing vendor management.
- Participate in the vendor selection process, including RFI/RFP development, proposal evaluation, and capabilities assessments.
- Assistsourcing and business leads on negotiating contracts, pricing, and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure favorable terms, cost efficiency, and alignment with business needs.
Relationship & Performance Management:
- Establish andmaintainstrong, collaborative relationships with key vendor partners, acting as the primary point of contact.
- Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and SLAs for all marketing vendors. Conduct regular performance reviews and business reviews with critical vendors.
- Identifyand address performance gaps, ensuring corrective actions aretakenand service quality is consistently met or exceeded.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between internal marketing teams and external vendors to ensure seamless project execution.
Contract & Financial Management:
- Manage the lifecycle of vendor contracts, including renewals, renegotiations, and terminations, in collaboration with legal and procurement departments.
- Monitorvendorspendagainst budgets,identifycost-saving opportunities, and ensure financial accountability.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Assess and mitigate vendor-related risks, including operational, financial, security, and compliance risks (e.g., data privacy, brand guidelines).
- Ensure all vendor activitiescomply withinternal policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
- Develop contingency plans for critical vendor services to ensure business continuity.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
- Continuously evaluate andoptimizevendor management processes to improve efficiency, transparency, and collaboration.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and vendor capabilities, proactivelyidentifyingopportunities toleveragenew technologiesor services to enhance marketing execution.
- Champion best practices in vendor management across the marketing department.
Qualifications:
- 6-10 years of experience in Marketing and retail bank/financial services industry experience.
- Requires attention to detail, advanced project management skills, good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at once.
- Creative problem solving and sense of ownership.
- Solid communication, presentation and project management skills.
- Ability to work well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
