Job Overview
The Program Management Advisory and Execution (PMAE) is the only enterprise level resource that supports all business units across the bank to plan, execute and govern complex cross-functional initiatives, programs, and projects. We act as partners to interject project management discipline to work efforts. The team works across silos and moves from topic to topic while continuing to maintain and follow program management rules of governance. The PMAE is an organization consisting of over 80 program management professionals, each with a very robust and diverse background.
The work will vary across engagements but generally will range from regulatory compliance to risk management. PMAE is not a technology-centric project management office, however its work may include the integration of the technology dependencies into cross-functional business initiatives as part of a larger body of work.
This is a highly matrixed organization where your primary manager will not be providing daily oversight of your actions and program management skills. You will be expected to operate independently, while interacting with your clients and stakeholders on a day-to-day basis. As initiatives, programs, and projects close, you will then be assigned to a new body of work with new sponsors and new stakeholders, while maintaining your primary PMAE supervisory chain.
What you will be doing:
This is a mid to senior level program manager role that is expected to lead large complex initiatives while capable of providing hands-on assistance; act as a bridge between the day-to-day supervision and the broader engagement level management; Managing Director-level interaction on a regular basis. Serve as a point of escalation for the program management team and day-today point of contact for senior client stakeholders. In addition to leading programs, this role will be also responsible for direct management of the local PMAE team such as performance evaluations, support, coaching, engagement, and recruiting.
You will play a key role in the definition, governance setup, and implementation of critical initiatives in support of Citi strategy. This role can vary based on program ranging from being responsible for the development of strategic plans, coordination of execution down to the tactical execution of program management. The Program Lead will serve as a partner to all stakeholders and form connections across Citi, facilitating cooperation and bringing people together across multiple and internal entities and collaborative, performance-focused management of the team.
Responsibilities:
- Be the example of program management excellence by aligning your programs to the PM practices while maintaining focus on the program benefit realization.
- Establish and execute governance aligned to PM Taxonomy for your assigned work efforts; continually adapts governance based on evolving program requirements.
- Provide challenge to status reported to highlight risk.
- Maintain alignment to the approved engagement strategy.
- Manage resources within the program to ensure appropriate workload within the team; continually assess the program’s resourcing strategy and escalate to the Engagement Lead (EL) for enterprise or strategic resources when necessary.
- Manage team members directly aligned to you to ensure effective, holistic performance evaluation and developmental support across PMAE matrixed operating model
- Drive accountability and engagement by holding oneself and the team accountable for deliverables and performance of the program.
- Demonstrate advanced judgment and conduct in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to structure and solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions.
- Manage, mentor and coach team members to elicit their best performance while partnering with the Engagement Lead.
- Actively build and manage the PMAE relationship with the client. Work as a partner to build strong relationships with senior project and program stakeholders.
- Implement and leverage the enhanced PM practices to drive value to your clients and stakeholders, work as a partner and deliver results. Maintain 100% compliance.
- Proactively identify and act on opportunities to manage risk through streamlining, simplifying and eliminated redundancies.
- Act strategically by anticipating and designing changes to business systems, processes, templates, and tools in response to initiative/program needs.
- Set direction and tone of the work by driving the pace and providing clear effective communication.
- Capture and document lessons learned, sharing experiences across PMAE. Identify best practice work product examples and communicate /capture for the benefit of the team.

- 10+ years of experience managing complex programs with internal and external resources following a structured methodology.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
