Job Overview

The MFD Performance Metrics & Allocation team is responsible for optimizing marketing investment decisions, ensuring financial accountability, and driving performance measurement across various business segments, including US Retail Banking and Citigold, and Cards. This role involves a blend of strategic financial planning, rigorous performance analytics, process reengineering, and robust risk management to maximize profitability and inform executive decision-making.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Marketing Investment & Budget Management:

  • Oversee and manage multi-million to billion-dollar marketing investment allocation processes, leveraging profitability metrics to achieve optimal P&L outcomes.
  • Lead annual planning cycles, including expense collection, budget allocation, development of financial scenarios, and coordination of sales targets with key stakeholders.
  • Manage detailed budget reporting, segment splits, channel/product-level analysis, and business allocation processes for consolidated financial views presented to senior leadership.
  • Support program approval processes for US Retail Banking and Citigold, ensuring the profitability of marketing campaigns through close collaboration with Finance, Marketing, and Analytics.

Performance Measurement & KPI Governance:

  • Lead the continuous development, implementation, and governance of a "gold-standard" Marketing Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Framework.
  • Address data accuracy challenges and establish unified sources of truth for senior-level presentations and strategic discussions.
  • Enhance CPA (Cost Per Acquisition) reporting through integration with advanced analytics, incorporating NPV (Net Present Value) and account-level thresholds.
  • Manage the consistent publication and evolution of comprehensive monthly and weekly KPI dashboards for executive forums.
  • Continuously assess and adapt KPI methodologies to reflect changes in economic assumptions, strategic updates, and evolving marketing tactics.

Reporting & Advanced Analytics:

  • Manage monthly repositories of marketing-driven KPIs, consolidating actuals for accounts, consumer deposits, and investment balances by campaign, client segment, product, and channel.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and strategic ad hoc reporting, performance deep-dives, and scenario analyses for marketing leadership and key partners (Product, Analytics, Finance).
  • Generate comprehensive contra segmentation reports and analyze their business impact to inform strategic adjustments.

Process Optimization & Reengineering:

  • Lead strategic initiatives focused on the continuous evaluation, reengineering, and enhancement of critical business and operational processes to drive simplification and efficiency.
  • Drive the end-to-end execution of process improvements, including identifying implementation areas, developing strategic execution plans, troubleshooting issues, gathering stakeholder feedback, and successfully implementing enhancements.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Proactively contribute to risk and control monitoring efforts related to quarterly investment allocation processes.
  • Ensure a compliant operational environment and maintain the team's overall state of audit readiness.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as a primary coordinator for key reporting and planning projects, orchestrating detailed analyses and aligning with various business partners.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners, including Sales, Finance, Product, and Analytics teams, to align on financial targets, ensure program profitability, and support strategic decision-making.


Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of experience in a financial services role
  • Advanced English level
  • Financial Reporting/ Modeling: Comprehensive financial models for forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic objectives
  • KPIs: Ability to define, track, and interpret key performance indicators
  • Data Interpretation: Ability to analyze financial data and translate it into actionable insights
  • Process Design & Documentation: Experience in mapping, simplifying, and documenting operational processes
  • PowerPoint Storytelling: Ability to create high-impact presentations for senior leadership using performance insights and structured narratives
  • Strong cross-functional communication with partners
  • Proven track record of supporting or owning executive deliverables
  • Experience navigating complex organizations and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
