Job Overview
The Operational Risk Group Manager, with a dedicated focus on Third Party Risk Management, is accountable for the comprehensive management of complex, critical, and large professional disciplinary areas within Citi's Third-Party Risk Management program specific to the U S Personal Banking (USPB) business. This role leads and directs a team of professionals, ensuring effective risk management practices are in place for external third-party relationships that carry the highest degree of risk for Citi's businesses. The manager will oversee a team of analysts responsible for supporting Business Activity Owners within the USPB business, execute third party oversight and controls to effectively manage the risk of their third-party suppliers. This role involves full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, and budget approval.
Responsibilities:
- Establishes and oversees operational risk policies, governance processes, and tools to minimize losses tied to third party risks.
- Leads and drives effective risk management practices for external third-party relationships, particularly those with the highest risk, ensuring thorough knowledge of Citi's Third-Party Risk Management requirements.
- Supports Business Activity Owners across the business who are responsible for third party oversight, advising and challenging where appropriate to ensure adherence to Citi’s Third-Party Risk Oversight program requirements.
- Conducts and advises on Third Party Risk Assessments, verifying third-party compliance with policies, controls, and contractual obligations, and overseeing contract execution and management.
- Monitors third-party performance and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), defines and implements risk mitigation strategies, manages exit strategies, and drives resolution of non-performance escalations.
- Facilitates remediation of identified issues or gaps and supports third-party audit/exam deliverables and any resulting issue resolution.
- Collaborates extensively with internal functions, including USPB business teams, enterprise Third Party Risk team, and the broader USPB Third Party Risk Oversight (TPROv) community, for coordinated risk management activities and best practice sharing.
- Ensures ethical conduct and regulatory compliance by appropriately assessing risk in all business decisions, safeguarding Citigroup's reputation and assets, and managing control issues with transparency and accountability.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years relevant experience. Significant experience in Operational Risk is a must, with a strong focus on third-party risk management. Other risk and control disciplines (e.g., credit, market) would be a plus.
- Broad knowledge of risk areas including business continuity, operational risk, supplier risk, audit and controls, with a strong understanding of supplier or third-party risk impact in a financial services company.
- Demonstrates knowledge of in-scope business and product areas within US Personal Banking would be a plus.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal & written – with the ability to articulate complex and sensitive issues to management.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple deliverables while working with minimal supervision in a large, global corporate environment.

- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
