Job Overview

The Accounting Senior Group Manager is a senior management level position with primary responsibility for execution of the North American (NAM) financial close of the accounting general ledger, as well as governance over the international close and global consolidation.  Additionally, the individual is responsible for production of the daily balance sheets for in-scope material legal entities (MLEs) in NAM and global consolidation of the daily balance sheet in support of Resolution & Recovery Planning (RRP).   

These responsibilities will be accomplished through direct management of a team within their reporting line, and engagement and influence of others in Finance and Technology outside of their direct reporting line.  The output of the financial close and global consolidation requires a high degree of financial accuracy and compliance with key reporting requirements, subject to 2nd and 3rd Line of Defense review.  Output must comply with robust documentation standards, subject to 3rd party examination by external auditors and examiners.  The Accounting Senior Group Manager develops reporting and control procedures to accurately prepare information required for US GAAP financial reporting and analysis by a broad range of stakeholders, representing financial reporting risk which must be monitored and mitigated. The objective of this role is to ensure business/department financials are prepared and delivered in a timely and accurate manner.

The role holder will be a senior leader in the Costa Rica Citi Solutions Center (CSC site).

Responsibilities:

  • Support the analysis and submission of reports to various constituencies SEC Reporting, Investor Relations, global business segments, etc.) based primarily on US GAAP requirements and Citi Accounting Policies

  • Manage activities, including closing the books and sub-ledgers, passing appropriate required adjustment entries and consolidated financials at the end of each accounting period

  • Provide assistance across the firm or multiple business lines/areas

  • Partner with revenue and expense management areas to improve efficiency, effectiveness, productivity and/or control

  • Manage day-to-day high level operational execution

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience in people management

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills

  • Ability to work across functional areas and across a global organization

  • Demonstrated project management skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred and managerial experience
